Celtic has been credited with an interest in Lazio duo Matteo Cancellieri and Gustav Isaksen…

That’s according to Italian sports outlet Gazzetta Regionale. The Serie A side are open to cashing in on the two wingers, meaning Celtic could snare one or both players if they choose to act.

Danish international Isaksen has been linked with Celtic before

Danish international Isaksen has been linked with Celtic in recent transfer windows. The 25-year-old is currently out injured but Lazio could cash in if offers arrive this summer. Isaksen is clearly a top drawer player, scoring 12 goals, and providing six assists in 95 appearances for the Italian side in Serie A.

It’s claimed the situation is currently “cold” but a transfer switch could heat up in the near future with Lazio willing to negotiate on their £12m valuation. A club happy to accept some lowballing is the perfect task for our CEO.

Lazio willing to reduce valuations to allow for sales

It’s believed that the Italian side will be willing to lower that asking price in a bid to cash in on the attacker. Isaksen who has two years of his current contract remaining, played 35 times for Lazio last term, scoring five times and providing one assist.

Cancellieri, 24, who is heading into the final year of his contract, played the same number of matches last season, registering four goals and two assists. He had a period out injured with a hamstring injury.

Isaksen would be a great signing from an ambitious Celtic

For me, out of the two aforementioned players, it’s Isaksen who we should looking to bring to the club.

The attacker who started his career in his native Denmark with Midtjylland, where he shined, scoring 33 goals in 139 games, form that won him a €14 million move to the Rome side.

He’s impressed in Italy also, just as he’s done with the Danish national side, so a move for Isaksen makes much more sense. He would also be the player to replace the talents of Nicolas Kuhn who we haven’t fully replaced since his departure to Como last year.

Maybe the thought of some serious lowballing will tempt Michael Nicholson?

The thought of some bargain hunting might appeal to the miserly Celtic Board but while the reported interest is worth mentioning it would be a major surprise if Celtic’s ambition stretched anywhere near these type of fees even if Lazio were to offer substantial discounts.
