Celtic are reportedly interested in Utrecht winger Adrian Blake, as Martin O’Neill ramps up his search for new faces for the upcoming season…

The former Watford player, 20, is under contract at the Eredivisie club for another season and is valued at around £2.5 million, which is a sum that Celtic would be more than comfortable operating at.

According to Sky Sports, Celtic is among a number of UK clubs interested in the player with the other clubs believed to be English Championship sides Wolves and Burnley, both of whom have just suffered relegation from the English Premier League.

At just 20, Blake is certainly experienced for his young age, having played 63 times for Utrecht in the all competitions, scoring nine goals and registering five assists is described as an exciting left winger with terrific ability and potential.

However as per usual, it’s nothing more than speculation with the club yet to take their interest past the ‘monitoring’ stage, such is our static like stance when it comes to recruitment. Surely, as mentioned earlier, it’s now time to end the dilly-dallying and get some new signings into the building.

Celtic supporters will remember young Adrian Blake scoring a terrific thirty yard strike against the Hoops at Celtic park last season in our 4-2 Europa League win over Utrecht.

Benjamin Nygren, Arne Engels and Austry Trusty scored for Celtic, as well as an own goal from the visitors in one of the highlights of an otherwise bleak European campaign campaign.

The Islington born player who started his career with Watford, made his debut in a Championship clash with Stoke at the age of just 17, before moving to the Netherlands in 2023.

He’s also been capped by England at Under 18, and 19 level.

Of course it’s all just mere speculation at this stage, but yet another rumour of interest, but one to discuss all the same. I fully understand readers getting increasing frustrated reading these stories linking Celtic to players only for the inevitable to happen. Maybe this one will be different, who knows?

In the meantime, don’t shoot the messenger!

Wolves, Burnley & Celtic among clubs interested in signing ex-Watford forward Adrian Blake from Utrecht.

He has one year left and Dutch club value him at £2.5m.

An ordinary everyday Celtic supporters hailing and still residing in Govan in the shadows of the enemy. I’m a season ticket holder. I Witnessed my first Celtic game in 1988 and have attended when I can ever since. Growing up in the 90s I witnessed Celtic at their lowest, and now appreciate the historic success we enjoy today. I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Shorts colleagues.

Yet another player who sounds good at a decent price that we are monitoring. FFS when does the monitoring turn to a sale? If Desmond can’t see this then I wished he’d fck off.
