Celtic are now facing a fight for Marcelo Saracchi’s signature after the club’s hierarchy inexplicably stalled on an open goal deal…
The Uruguayan was a standout performer for the club last term, providing excellent challenge for Kieran Tierney and providing something different in games from the bench too at times.
There’s a real growing concern now amongst supporters that nothing has changed whatsoever when it comes to how the club conducts it’s business in the transfer market, with only Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain resigned for another year, which needs no pointing out is merely maintaining what we already have, as opposed to improving the shape of the squad, regardless of what the Board’s sychophants say.
It is now approaching the end of the first full week in the month of July, and despite constant rumours about links to various players, only the name of Camilo Duran seems to be iron-clad at present – and even that has gone quiet amidst haggling over transfer fee yet again.
The circus continues to roll on and with no end in sight for this painful agony the loyal supporters have to endure, nobody from the club has communicated a thing, in sticking stringently to the principal shareholder’s wishes.
In the meantime, it now looks like Independiente are homing in on Marcelo Saracchi as their preferred left-back target this summertime, meaning that Celtic could once again be left with egg on their face, trying to barter down a few hundred grand here and there, for a deal that is clearly a no-brainer.
Media reports in South America from El Crack Deportivo, claim that the Argentinian club wish to make him their full-back for next term, to help bolster an area they feel is lacking at present.
In an all too familiar tale of woe, it seems that the club’s refusal to treat teams with respect when it comes to negotiating transfer fees is still infecting our operations. For successive windows now, this kind of behaviour has marred the club and it’s good name (shoutout to Ross Desmond) and is giving us an unwanted reputation in the game amongst our peers and contemporaries.
This madness has to stop.

Excellent article Paul, spot on analysis, totally agree on Saracchi. Jaw-dropping incompetence from individuals who apparently can neither see the obvious nor speak the truth. We could end this window with 150 million in the bank and barely 11 players for the first team, scrabbling at the last minute and beyond for whatever is left. Criminal.

Do we even know if Saracchi is actually interested in joining ourselves on a permanent basis?
Somehow, believe he was keeping his options open, as should have been a straightforward deal to conclude?
There’s way to much of this thinking, that as soon as we are linked with any players?
They automatically will be wanting to join our club?
Don’t think that is the case, whatsoever, especially for the quality of player, we are hoping to attract imo?
If Saracchi thinks a better opportunity is elsewhere for himself?
Then so be it, look elsewhere for the potential backup option for Tierney?
With reduced playing time on offer, we are hardly an easy sell for players either?
Doesn’t mean that a younger player isn’t available, who is prepared to play the backup role to Tierney either?
Was hoping Saracchi was the solution to the position available within our squad?
But at present, there is nothing to suggest that he doesn’t want it either?
The longer he stalls, then we are better off in keeping our own options open, as a result imo?
If MoN is considering using Tierney as a wing back next season?
Does that totally rule out McCowan as a potential backup option, along with any other youngsters we could have in the making also?
Trying to place every footballing decision that MoN is facing, upon the board is ridiculous way of looking at things imo?
Especially when no-one has a clue about what are the actual plans of how MoN intends to set up our team, and forming a squad to face all the challenges involved?
