Celtic appear to have dropped a major hint over the club’s No.1 for the new season after Vil Sinisalo was handed a symbolic number ahead of the new season.
Vil Sinisalo came on at half time in the draw, replacing Ross Doohan. As the team lines were confirmed, a major hint was given that Celtic might not go into the market for another first pick goalkeeper.
Sinisalo has taken over the No.1 jersey from former goalkeeping colleague, Kasper Schmeichel, who retired in the summer.
Sinisalo came into the Celtic team for the away win against Stuttgart in the Europa League before retaining the gloves for the trip to face Rangers at Ibrox. The Finnish stopper impressed in the run in and was a vital player in helping Celtic towards the League and Cup Double.
The goalie said that the plan was always to succeed Schmeichel as the No.1, learning from the experienced Dane before succeeding his as the club’s first pick between the sticks.
You would imagine that Celtic would be active in the market as they look to get another goalkeeper to challenge Sinisalo for the gloves. An experienced, quality goalie that is content to act as deputy to Sinisalo would be ideal.

One important fact to remember about the celtic transfer activity is that as well as needing more players to support the current group. As soon as we sell that just adds the numbers & quality required if maeda johnson engels etc leave too. Lots of work required thanks to this board.
It was always the plan or Sinisalo wouldn’t have given up playing first team football, although at a club in englands 3/4th division I’m not sure which. I think he’ll just grow and grow, give him the gloves, he’s not let us down yet, and more and more he’s getting confident coming for crosses
