Camilo Duran’s former coach has been giving the Celtic support the profile of his former player…

The Colombian is in talks with the Hoops over moving to the Scottish giants, with his club Qarabag reported to be in dialogue currently with Martin O’Neill’s side over a possible transfer this window.

Duran has shown good capability last year too, having managed to grab 5 goals in the UEFA Champions League with the Azerbaijani outift, including massive strikes against Newcastle United, Eintracht Franfurt, Benfica and Ajax of Amsterdam too.

That has alerted other clubs to his potential for development and also about his current ability to mix it up with good company.

It appears Martin O’Neill fancies the South American attacker for these very reasons, as his side is in desperate need of refurbishment at present. There are several stars who have already departed Paradise and there are numerous more who have been linked with moves away this summertime, as O’Neill is tasked with a major rebuilding job.

Meanwhile, Camilo Duran has been profiled by those who know him best, including former coach at Independiente Medellin, Sebastian Botero, who revealed that his ex-star is a very hard worker, yet has some rebel blood in him too at times.

“Camilo has always been a bit of a rebel,” he said via Daily Record. “That’s why pressure doesn’t weigh him down – it fuels him. If logic says everything is against him, he does everything in his power to turn the situation in his favour.

“When he first arrived at the club, he was a midfielder, but we soon turned him into a forward player, where he was far better suited,” Botero continued.

“Camilo has a lot of personality and character. That’s evident in his composure when finishing and that’s a virtue of players from his part of Colombia.

“They never let themselves be affected by their surroundings. He knows how to handle pressure naturally, and that has a lot to do with the conditions in which he grew up. He was born in a tough area and had to grow up quickly.

“Camilo was talented, but very rebellious and this was a consequence of the difficulties he experienced at home, in the neighbourhood where he grew up, surrounded by drugs and gangs,” the coach admitted.

“He was a hot-headed, mischievous kid who liked to fight with everyone! But his life changed when he joined a football academy. He was sent on loan to Flamengo and they would have signed him, if it wasn’t for the fact he suffered an injury. Even then, he got back up and went to Portugal to play football,” Botero said.

“It was a risk for him going to Azerbaijan – he was a pioneer for Colombian footballers there. It has been the making of him and he has matured so much on the pitch.

“He has improved massively and he is now one of the most talked-about forward players in Europe. Camilo can keep improving and become one of the most progressive players in Europe and earn a nice move to a bigger club,” Camilo’s former coach added.
