Celtic’s ‘Big Strong Man’ Cameron Carter-Vickers has opened up on his recent injury nightmare…

The big centre-back suffered an Achilles tendon problem in a Europa League encounter versus Sturm Graz, way back in October, when the now departed Brendan Rodgers was still in charge of the football club.

The 28-year-old hasn’t had his sorrow to seek on the injury front in general, as he hasn’t managed to get through a full campaign in recent years without a breakdown of some sort.

Under Ange Postecoglou, CCV suffered a knee issue which required surgery, back in 2023, meaning he had a long lay-off with that too, although not anywhere near as long as the newest heel malady.

Our Big Strong Man has now given everyone an insight into that situation and how it has developed since.

Speaking to Celtic TV/Player, the central defender said: “At first, I just thought it was cramp. I thought I had a bit of cramp in my calf. Pretty soon after that, when the physios saw it, they thought it was a rupture in the Achilles, which it turned out to be. At that point, you know it’s going to be a long-term injury.”

Cameron had to undergo and extensive period of rehabilitation as a consequence of that unfortunate injury.

Enlightening the support of his ongoing treatment for several long and testing months, he said: “For me, it’s just about understanding that that’s it now. That’s the situation you’re in. Just working towards getting back in the best shape and the best way possible. Obviously, with this one, I knew it was going to be particularly long. It’s just about focusing on each day and just trying to improve and heal.”

“I was in a cast for three weeks and then a boot for eight,” Carter-Vickers continued. “You can’t really move your foot in any type of direction at first. Right at the beginning of the rehab, I do get a bit of movement back in my foot. Taking that as a win and just being positive about it. Then, obviously, after that you’re chasing the next thing and the next thing,” he stated candidly.

Getting CCV back for pre season is a massive boost for ourselves?
Like Getting a new signing, as he was sorely missed last season, along with a few others, with our injury nightmares in operation last season?

Always worry about whether that yard of pace, could be lost after such an injury, bet hopefully that isn’t the case?
Still a player that we have become so dependent upon, over the past few seasons?
But with his growing injury concerns, adequate cover still has to be in place for himself, all the same?

Trusty did OK in that regards last season, even if it is not his preferred and best position?
Murray himself is still in the development stage, after missing so much time, with his own injury nightmares?
Even rocki and Welsh have had there own injury issues, within our cursed right CB position?

Still not entirely clear, upon how MoN intends to set up our CB positions at present?
Especially with the amount of rumours surrounding potential CB?
But at least there are current options available at present, and a returning CCV, will certainly help matters, even if he has to be eased back into things during this pre season?
The amount of injuries occurred within our CB partnerships, still remains a potential concern all the same, which MoN will be fully aware of?
