Premier League side Brentford look set to secure the signing of former England striker Callum Wilson. The 34-year-old was heavily linked with Celtic in January as Martin O’Neill looked to bolster his attack with the seasoned striker but no deal was forthcoming.
Now, as reported by Sky Sports, Brentford are in advanced talks to sign the attacker, who left West Ham at the end of last season.

With seven goals for West Ham last year, Wilson’s record was hardly glowing but he had a number of suitors, given his body of work at Newcastle and Bournemouth. Such was his output at Newcastle that despite failing to impress at West Ham, Celtic were linked with a move as Martin looked for attacking reinforcements.
Celtic were able to get Daizen Maeda and Kelechi Iheanacho to find form at the right time and the January signings largely were phased out, but they all played their role – well, maybe not Mvuka.
Iheanacho’s future is still very much up in the air after the reported option to extend his deal expired at the end of June. Celtic did, however, reach terms with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, suggesting that there is hope of a deal being reached.
The West London squad will add the experience of Wilson to compete with Brazilian Igor Thiago, who played against Scotland at the World Cup, and assist Keith Andrews in their bid to continue their impressive run in the top flight.
