Callum McGregor has confirmed in an interview with Luke Shanley at Sky Sports that he is very much committed to Celtic and will remain at the club, captaining the side into the new season and beyond…
That’s brilliant news for the Celtic support and puts to bed rumours that Calmac may well be unhappy with the club not matching his ambition and accordingly could be tempted to make a move to Saudi Arabia with two of his former Celtic managers Brendan Rodgers and Ange Postecoglou managing top teams in the Middle East nation.

“We’ve signed two strikers, two really good players,” the Celtic captain explained to Luke Shanley. “Camilo has come in and done really well, Kasper has just joined us over the last 24 hours so it’s good signs, it’s positive and that is to add to what is a really good group already.

Getting Celtic over the line in three-way title battle with Hearts and the Rangers
“I don’t really think there’s a group of players and a group of staff that could have got us through that difficult moment as much as these boys did.
“So it’s obviously about trying to add bits of quality but what we do have here is guys who want to work for the club, who are good footballers, who want to get better and ultimately did bring success to the football club during a difficult season.
“We have the makings of a really, really good team,” Callum McGregor noted.
Champions League is the standard
“The standard for us is trying to get to Champions League football, that’s where we want to be, it takes the club to a different level. So can we keep pushing as players, as staff, and a football club to make sure we get there.”
Calmac happy to remain at Celtic
The Sky Sports man pressed the Celtic captain on whether the arrival of Camilo Duran and Kasper Hogh is an indicator that Celtic is indeed ready to match Callum’s ambition for the club, meaning that he is now satisfied enough to commit himself to staying at the club.
“Absolutely,” Callum replied. “This is a football club that’s been part of my whole life since I was eight, nine years old. It’s where I want to be, it’s where I want to play football and ultimately, I want to keep driving everything that I can possibly can to make sure this club is successful.
“Eventually, the day that you do leave it, you want to leave it in a really good place.”

More of a relief than anything else, especially with Calmac changing agents imo?
Would like to think that the OX will be able to help Calmac out, upon playing time, and this policy of having to play every minute of every game?
Already seen Calmac during pre season, with his more advanced pressing game in operation, along with supporting our attacking play moreso?
Getting that back into his game, makes him a far more effective player, than sitting in the deeper role for longer periods of a match imo?
Got a decent partnership with Engels in operation at present, but still something for MoN to consider, especially if Engels is allowed to leave this summer?
Getting the right combinations in place, within the centre of the park, will be crucial for ourselves, especially with struggling to get that area of the pitch, functioning as well as we would have liked, for long periods of last season imo?
Calmac has been fantastic in the captain role, which hopefully allows him to focus upon his own game moreso, with extra quality Getting added. Already has a few leaders within the squad, especially with the experience factor involved, so hopefully the motivation factor remains, as it finally did, at the end of last season?
A renewed and motivated Calmac, will certainly help ourselves in that regards, especially if CL football is achieved imo?
