Overnight both Daizen and Auston got on the scoresheet at the World Cup,now at least four Celtic stars are guaranteed the knockout stage football, hopefully with more to come…
Daizen Maeda and Auston Trusty both scored for their respective nations earlier this morning.
Daizen opened the scoring ten minutes into the second half for Japan in their clash with Sweden in Dallas, knocking the ball into the net after some terrific build up play, although the Swedes equalised six minutes later curtesy of a stunning Anthony Elanga strike.

The Japanese where already assured of qualification in their final group stage game against a Swedish side that included Daizen’s club teammate Benjamin Nygren on the bench.
Benji made a late appearance as a sub as his side earned a place in the last 32 as one of the best third placed teams.
Later on Auston Trusty started the game the USA against Turkey in Los Angeles, with the States just like Japan already assured of qualification, and the towering centre back opened the scoring in the third minute as he fired home from a corner against an already eliminated Turkish side.
The respective results sees at least four Celts guaranteed a place of representation their nations in the knockout stages.
Japan have booked a tasty looking showdown with Brazil in Texas on Monday, whilst the USA and Sweden have still to discover their opponents, although it is possible both could face each other depending on results elsewhere.
Although it looks certain that the Swedes will face the winner of group I, which will be either France or Norway who both face each other later this evening for a winner takes all in terms of topping the group.
Daizen Maeda, Benjamin Nygren, Auston Trusty, and Alistair Johnston are all guaranteed to be playing for their respective nations in the last 32, let’s hope that Kieran Tierney, Anthony Ralston, and Yang can join them if other results go the way of Scotland and South Korea respectively.
It’s not looking great for the Scotland it has to be said and even Steve Clarke reckons that Scotland are going home. Hopefully we get the rub of the green with results going our way.
Watch the two Celtic Bhoys score in the highlights below as Japan and Sweden share the points in a 1-1 draw and despite Auston Trusty scoring an early opener USA lose 3-2 to already eliminated Turkey.
