Celtic have told Lech Poznan to put up or shut up in the case of Luis Palma’s transfer negotiations…
The Scottish Champions have been deep in dealings with the Polish club for some time now and after Luis’ terrific spell abroad in the Ekstraklasa, Lech would like to turn his temporary adventure into a permanent stay moving forward.
Luis Palma struggled for consistency at Celtic
Palma signed for Celtic during the summer transfer window of 2023, and despite some decent showings in a Celtic shirt, just couldn’t deliver with any assured consistency, prompting then manager, Brendan Rodgers, to put him out on a season-long loan, to see if he could garner any interest for his talents, of which are clearly present.
Palma scored in the UEFA Champions League too, highlighting his undoubted quality at times, but at the same time, also showcasing why he wasn’t a great fit for Celtic on the left-wing berth, with a chronic lack of pace being one of a number of isses with the flamboyant, if not spectacular Honduran ace.
Celtic stand firm on option to buy price
Reports from Poland have now indicated that after lengthy discussions with the Polish champions’ hierarchy, the Glasgow side have now told Poznan to pay the pre-agreed option-to-buy fee for the Honduran, or drop their interest in him.

Weszlo outlet detailed the following on the current state of play between the two parties for Palma’s signature, with Sevilla and others lurking in the background:
Celtic demanding full price of €4.5m for Palma
“According to information, Lech Poznań submitted more than one proposal to buy Luis Palma for less than the amount stipulated in the contract (approximately 4.5 million euros).
“The proposals were very good, beneficial, wrapped in attractive bonuses, but… Celtic rejected each of them. The message from the Scottish champion is simple: if you want to buy our player, pay a clause. There is no other option.”

It’s a bold yet brilliant stance from Celtic who completed a brilliant end to the season winning the Scottish Premiership then the Scottish Cup a week later. The Celts are standing firm on their pre-negotiated fee for Luis and so they should.
Sevilla waiting in the wings and Celtic will be well aware of their interest in Luis Palma
With teams such as Sevilla waiting in the wings to see if negotiations break down, this latest move by Celtic, if the Polish media are to be believed, could potentially force Lech Poznan to show their hand and finally commit to the agreement which was arranged for Palma this summer.

Of perhaps Luis himself will fancy the warmer climate in Seville as the place to play his football for the next few years.

I couldn’t care less if we got 50p for any of our players as Celtic plc will pocket it all
