Celtic as expected have not progressed with their option to buy on January loan signing Junior Adamu, who is now set for an €800k transfer Schalke 04…

Adamu agreement reached
Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg reports that while the 25 year-old had several offers after his Celtic loan spell ended he wants to sign for Schalke. And an agreement on the transfer fee has now been reached with current club SC Freiburg with the player undergoing a medical this afternoon ahead of putting pen to paper.

One vital goal for Celtic
Adamu may not have enjoyed the best of times at Celtic but he did score one of the most dramatic and important goals in what turned out to be a magical, double winning campaign as Celtic picked up both the Scottish Premiership trophy then the Scottish Cup in the last two games of a turbulent campaign.

And without Adamu’s last minute goal against Dundee in the Scottish Cup at Celtic Park that would not happened with Celtic heading out of the cup until his lovely little flick took the tie to extra-tine. A Sebastian Tounekti goal booked Celtic’s place in the quarter finals where we were drawn against the Rangers at Ibrox.
Adamu made just six appearances for Celtic scoring that one vital goal against Dundee in the Scottish Cup.
Adamu singled out for praise by Martin O’Neill after Scottish Cup Final win
After the Celtic squad returned to Paradise from Hampden after the 3-1 Scottish Cup Final win over Neil Lennon’s Dunfermline, Martin O’Neill while speaking to supporters outside the stadium, called Adamu forward for some special praise, pointing out that the Cup final icing on the cake would not have happened if he didn’t save the day against Dundee.
Adamu’s record at Freiburg was slightly better, scoring seven goals and provided four assists in his 67 appearances for the club. Junior Adamu has also won nine international caps for Austria, making his debut back in 2021.

The skip hat that didn’t go unnoticed
Thanks for the goal Junior, and the skip hat that didn’t go unnoticed. Best of luck at Schalke.
