With an almighty rebuilding and restructuring job required, after the club’s custodians let the playing squad and football operations fall into successive windows of failure and neglect, Celtic need to get moving.
Numerous aspects of the playing squad require attention and support, with a full new forward line required, and midfielders and defenders on top of that – whilst you can throw a goalkeeper into the mix too.

If the club didn’t have a history of being immersed in molasses in winter time when it comes to recruitment, we might have already started bringing players in, after Martin O’Neill was confirmed on a one-year-deal.

However, if the club are keen to bring loan star Marcelo Saracchi back to the club, then we will have to act fast. Interest is growing in the Uruguayan left-back, who flew back to Argentina to rejoin parent club Boca Junoirs when the Scottish season came to an end, after the Scottish Cup Final.

Celtic were said to be in discussions with Saracchi’s club, although no agreement could be reached between the two parties financially, according to reports in South America.
Martin O’Neill confessed that if he were to become Celtic manager on a permanent basis, Saracchi would be one he would be eager to bring back to the Scottish Double-winners.
The 28-year-old who enjoyed a spell in Europe before Celtic with RB Leipzig, did prove to be a useful addition and able deputy, sharing responsibilities with Kieran Tierney last term.

Now though, it is being reported online that interest is increasing in the man who helped set-up that crucial Daizen Maeda goal against Hearts, on the final day of the campaign at Celtic Park.
Apparently, Turkish sources claim that Marcelo is a target for newly-promoted side Çorum FK, with journalist, Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, claiming the Süper Lig side are interested in bringing him to Turkey, following an end to his Hoops loan spell.

Agreed that Saracchi is a player i would like to become a permanent signing?
But not going to be as simple as a deal that we would like, with the factors involved imo?
For Saracchi himself, at 28 will potentially be looking for a wealthy 5 year contract for himself, without any real sell on value involved?
Personally believe that it should be value for money, especially with an injury record that Tierney possess imo?
Yet our board would tend to be more interested in a younger player, which would cost less in wages, with the prospect of a larger sell on value, if the right player can be found, and prepared to play the back up role to Tierney, and be better than scales within the position?
Can see merits for both options to ourselves, and could well include a decision between MoN and board to be made upon the outcome?
Personally believe that security within the position for the longer term, in Saracchi is the better of the 2 options myself?
But playing time available for Saracchi could be an obstacle to overcome still?
But as usual, how much are we willing to pay for Saracchi in possibly a bigger contract in wages, that he was on last season? Especially when you add in Tierney contract wage into the equation for the position within our squad?
As it possibly will come down to, the cost of the fee and contract involved within the investment, without any real forms of returns within it, possibly not as simple of a decision that awaits all the same imo?
My choice would be, Saracchi would be a solid investment for our squad imo?
But others will have to decide upon the actual decision that will be taken all the same?
We possibly already know the fee involved, as to whether Saracchi is interested in the personal terms on offer, and wanting to see if better financial terms develop for himself, is a completely different matter altogether at this stage?
As much as I would like to see Saracchi return as a permanent signing, I wouldn’t be to interested in getting caught up in a waiting game either by himself or agent either imo?
