Frosinone don’t look like budging any time soon on their Fares Ghedjemis stance as the Italian club looks to maximise the transfer fee…

The Algerian winger is attracting numerous interested parties, after his wonderful success in Serie B last year, where he helped propel the Serie A newcomers to promotion.

“You wouldn’t be a million miles away”

Celtic were working to bring the attacker to Parkhead during the January transfer window, with a spate of discussions taking place to try and prize him away from the Italian outfit. Martin O’Neill even went as far as to say “you wouldn’t be a million miles away”, in the now infamous response given to journalists, when questioned whether both Ghedjemis and Damir Redzic were targets.

O’Neill was made to look somewhat foolish by those above him, in a stunt not only reserved for Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon, it would seem. No, the Hoops hierarchy don’t discriminate in this respect, not even when it comes to a man the size and stature of Martin O’Neill.

It was a scandalous episode in the club’s recent history, although those are becoming increasingly prominent these days, under its current stewardship.

Frosinone’s asking price was £6.8 million

After baulking at Frosinone’s asking price of £6.8 million, the club are in for a shock this summer again, as various reports claim that the Italian side want even more money this time.

With promotion to Italy’s top division, the minnows are in no desperate need to sell and can hold out for top dollar for their asset – as well they should.

    “It’s not a given that he’ll leave”

Sporting Director, Renzo Castagnini, shows no sign of softening his stance in this respect, wherever Ghedjemis is concerned, citing that the player could yet well stay put, despite the recent clamour for him. “It’s not a given that he’ll leave,” he said, as reported by TuttoMercatoWeb. “We’ll evaluate the approaches and see if we get an offer that satisfies us. It depends entirely on the market.”

Much like the attitude Celtic took towards Lech Poznan and the Luis Palma situation, it looks like Frosinone have told potential suitors to show the colour of their money, or don’t bother wasting their time.

But they are happy to pay 5.5 million for the likes of Balikwisha on the grounds he cost 1 million less. The board are idiots.
