Former Celtic target Tyrell Malacia has been freed by Manchester United, and it’s left some supporters speculating whether a possible deal could well be back on the cards…

The Dutch international left back was on the radar of the club 18 months ago, but no deal ever came to fruition, so will we be looking to make a move for the former Feyenoord man now that he’s a free agent? We can only hope so as he’s the type of player we want to attract to the club.

There’s still some hope that we can seal the signature of Marcelo Saracchi on a more permanent basis, but any chances of a deal for the popular Uruguayan is fading by the day.

We have Kieran Tierney who is firmly established as the number one choice at left back, but we need reliable cover due to the Scotland man’s proneness to injury, so someone such as Tyrell Malacia would be ideal to bring to the club, especially as there would be no fee to pay.

26 year old Malacia despite failing to get regular game time at Old Trafford following his €15 million from Feyenoord in 2022, is still very much a player who has an abundance of talent, not to mention stacks of experience as he’s played for Holland as well as having stacks of European experience at club level.

Malacia is a player who possesses great pace, and is an aggressive one on one defender, and is equally effective going forward. What’s not to like? He’s certainly a player worthy of consideration for the not inconsiderable squad rebuild ahead this summer at Celtic Park.

Again we would be looking at our wage budget, before considering a contract?

Would have thought he was on a considerable amount at United? So how much is he willing to drop his wage terms, in order to revitalise his career?
And would he be able to do so, within the backup role to Tierney on offer?
At 26 think he might be looking for better, than we can potentially offer imo?

So maybe bit of a longshot all the same?
But do agree that a reliable and decent backup is required for the LB position, especially with the injury track record of Tierney, still relevant imo?
