Former Celtic defender Jack Hendry looks set to extend his stay with Al-Ettifaq after fresh developments reportedly changed the club’s financial outlook.
The ex-Hoops centre-back had been widely expected to leave the Saudi Pro League side when his current deal expired, amid suggestions that negotiations had stalled over revised contract terms.
Reports indicated Al-Ettifaq were operating under tighter financial constraints as investment across parts of Saudi football was reassessed.
However, the situation appears to have shifted significantly in recent weeks. Al-Ettifaq are understood to have secured an improved budget allocation, paving the way for Hendry to continue his career with the club.
According to talkSPORT journalist Ben Jacobs, the 36-cap Scotland defender is now poised to agree a new contract, ending speculation over a potential summer exit.

While Hendry’s future has reportedly been resolved, former Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum is still expected to move on from the club.
Given his experience at both club and international level, Hendry would likely have attracted considerable interest had he become available on a free transfer.
The defender currently shares a dressing room with former Celtic striker Moussa Dembele, and the pair recently enjoyed a memorable afternoon against local rivals Al-Qadsiah.
In a notable twist, both players found the net in a victory over Brendan Rodgers’ side, handing the ex-Hoops boss his first defeat since taking charge of the club.
