Following on from Sky Sports’ afternoon update on the talks between Celtic and Robbie Keane, the same source also claims that Craig Bellamy is still of interest to Dermot Desmond and the Hoops hierarchy, who would like the opportunity to speak to the ex-Newcastle and Manchester City forward…
Wales boss Bellamy, 46, has been steadfast publicly in his commitment to the national team, with the former Celtic striker missing out on the World Cup lately; succumbing to defeat at the hands of Bosnia and Herzegovina for this summer’s tournament over in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
Celtic still keen to talk to Craig BellamyÂ
Geraint Hughes of Sky Sports claimed he had spoken to the Welshman earlier this week and said he was fully focused on the job at hand for Euro 2028 qualification with his country, with Bellamy recognising their has been interest in his services recently. He reasserted this belief publicly, in the aftermath of his conversation privately with Hughes.
However, Anthony Joseph and Mark McAdam advised that Bellamy has been admired for his work with the Welsh national side within the walls of Parkhead, and even revealed he was high up the potential list of candidates to replace Brendan Rodgers when the club and the Irish coach decided to part ways, back in October of 2025.
Burnley also interested in the Wales managerÂ
With Burnley also said to be extremely interested in talking to him, it could be a case of Bellamy staying publicly committed whilst hearing what prospective opportunities are out of there.
One from three for the Celtic jobÂ
For now though, it looks like Robbie Keane and Martin O’Neill are the two fighting it out for the job full-time, although nothing can be discounted either when it comes to Bellamy, with admiration for him strong inside the club.
