Craig Bellamy remains fully focused on his role as Wales manager despite continued speculation linking him with the Celtic job, according to reports.
The former Wales international has previously been mentioned as a possible successor to Martin O’Neill, with his name resurfacing amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding the managerial position.
O’Neill recently revealed that he plans to hold discussions with principal shareholder Dermot Desmond regarding the possibility of taking the role permanently after guiding the club to a domestic league and cup double.
However, with those talks reportedly yet to take place, Bellamy and former Celtic striker Robbie Keane have again been touted as potential contenders.
Bellamy narrowly missed out on leading Wales to the World Cup after their play-off campaign ended in a penalty shootout defeat to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the semi-finals.
Sky Sports journalist Geraint Hughes says conversations with Bellamy have left him convinced that the 46-year-old’s priority is to continue his work with Wales and lead the national side into Euro 2028, which will be jointly hosted by Wales, England and Scotland.
Speaking on Sky Sports News via The National, Hughes said: “I had a really good catch up with him very recently. He’s been very aware about the interest in him from club management. He sees that very much in his future but not in his immediate future.
“He is 100 per cent staying with Wales. When Scott Parker lost his job at Burnley he (Bellamy) was immediately the frontrunner for that job. He’s been linked with Celtic, first in November and again now. But Bellamy wants to stay with Wales. He doesn’t see the job he is doing as complete. He is absolutely gutted that they are not at the World Cup.”
