Celtic will face competition in their quest to land French-based forward Taïryk Arconte…
The club is fresh off the back of appointing Double-winner Martin O’Neill as manager, and as many have speculated, the Hoops will require major surgery this close season if we are to pull ourselves out of the rut we self-manufactured last term.
Several high-profile stars are set to move on, with the likes of Daizen Maeda, Arne Engels, Reo Hatate, and Benjamin Nygren all thought to be either heading for the exit door or have strong interest in their services from elsewhere.
With that in mind, Celtic will need to rebuild major aspects of the playing squad if they want to remain the domestic benchmark and gain traction on the European scene.
Reports have linked the club to numerous names, some more exciting than others, it has to be said. However, one thing is for certain: the club needs to find a new forward line. Bodo-Glimt’s Kasper Hogh has been mentioned previously, with tentative links in the January transfer window flattering to deceive.
That one seems less likely if truth be told, as from recent evidence of the club’s transfer strategy and dealings, a capture like that would be a shock.
Likewise, it remains to be seen if Celtic will return to the table for Fares Ghedjemis from Serie A newcomers Frosinone.
The Algerian attacker was heavily touted to join the Hoops in January of this year, but as per usual, the club failed to get the deal over the line. That left Martin O’Neill playing without a full deck of cards and he had to squeeze every last ounce out of second-choice players and an ageing James Forrest at times to get us through.
Meanwhile, any potential deal for Rodez AF forward Arconte, who grabbed 14 goals in 32 games last season in Ligue 2, will not come without a fight, according to Daily Record. It is claimed the Guadeloupe international is being tracked strongly by numerous clubs, including recently promoted Auxerre in France, with Alex Neil’s Millwall also said to be monitoring the 22-year-old this summer.
With his ability to play right-wing and through the centre-forward position too, that adaptability could be highly appealing for a Celtic recruitment team that will have to be creative at times during this rebuild, having been left with a mountain to climb.

Would like to think MoN can sell our club, to the quality of player we are hoping to attract?
Somehow, don’t think we will be offering such a financial package, to make it such a straightforward decision for such players to be making either imo?
The potential biggest issue, could involve looking at trying to offer 4/5 year contracts, to potential incoming players, all the while we have a 1 year manager in position?
With the time factor involved, and hardly on our side, we really can’t afford to allow players and agents to play the waiting game with ourselves either?
So plenty of factors have to be taken into account during this window, no matter how testing it could be for ourselves?
Would prefer to see, if we are really interested in a player, then no more of this messing around, that we are getting accustomed with, during these transfer windows?
Nicholson and mckay don’t provide confidence in that regards whatsoever for ourselves imo?
But don’t believe that he is placing players upon a manager either?
So need a better working relationship, that was on show a year ago, even if it’s uncertain whether we will actually get that in return, all the same imo?
