Celtic are set to face-off against AC Milan this pre-season, after the club announced a glamour friendly with the European heavyweights…

Milan, arch-rivals of Celtic’s 1967 European Cup Final opponents Inter, have plenty of history with the Hoops themselves, having fought on numerous occasions post-Millennium on the Continent.

Of course, many will remember vividly that Scott McDonald winner on a soaking wet night in Glasgow’s East End, back in 2007, when a drama-filled evening of football unfolded before our very eyes. After taking the lead through a Stephen McManus goal, the Italian side equalised through an unfortunate penalty from Brazilian legend Kaka.

However, that night it was written in the stars for the Bhoys, as a Dida parry from a Gary Caldwell shot late in the game, fell at McDonald’s feet. The Aussie had no problem scoring from inside the box and it sent Celtic Park into a cacophony of noise, as we went 2-1 ahead.

It was a truly magical moment in Celtic folklore and will be a victory that is well remembered by many a supporter, when this announcement reaches the masses.

Celtic announced via the club’s official website, that newly-appointed manager Martin O’Neill will line-up against the seven-time European Cup winners at Paradise on Saturday, 25 July at 3pm. It advises that tickets will be available for supporters soon, with more information becoming available in the weeks to come.

Definitely one that will be worth watching, for sure.

And just because we’re on the subject…
