Celtic has made contact with Swiss side over Elias Filet
The Frenchman is said to be courting serious interest from the Five-in-a-row Scottish Premiership Champions, with reports surfacing over the last week or so that the Hoops would like to bring the attacker to Paradise during the summer transfer window.
Filet, who has bagged 22 goals for his side FC Aarau, as well as six assists during 40 appearances in the Swiss second division, is attracting numerous admiring glances across Europe in his services and Celtic are said to be just one of a number of clubs with interest in the centre-forward.
Celtic held a video meeting with player and his agent
The club had said to have held discussions with the player and his representatives last Friday, via a video call, as things begin to heat up.
Nothing concrete has come from those discussions as of yet, however, whilst Celtic have yet to strike a blow in the transfer market this summer, with ongoing issues surrounding Martin O’Neill’s backroom staff clearly taking precedence at this current juncture.
Backroom staff uncertainty casting a shadow at Celtic
Shaun Maloney and Mark Fotheringham are still unassigned to the club, with delays regarding salaries still unresolved, whilst long-serving coach Gavin Strachan is in discussions with West Brom about a possible return to the Midlands, where he has family ties.
Meanwhile, a recent report out of Poland has revealed that if Celtic are to sign the French attacker Filet, they will have to fend off competition from Polish cracks Raków Częstochowa.
Goal.pl report that Raków are aiming to convince Hoops target Filet, that his future prospects would be best served in the Ekstraklasa division for his development.
Four clubs currently in the race to sign goalscorer
The 24-year-old is now said to be a possible target for Celtic, FC Lorient, Genk and now Raków Częstochowa, with the left-footed hitman spoiled for choice, following a very successful campaign with FC Aurau.
As previously mentioned, the Bhoys will be undergoing radical surgery this close season, as Martin O’Neill aims to get the side back fighting and competing at the highest levels in European football. Brian Wilson, the ‘interim’ chairman last week promised that the Celtic manager would be backed in the transfer window this summer.
We’ll have to wait and see if that is going to happen.
