Long term Celtic target Jakob Breum is available for a more than affordable fee of £4.4 million, as his side Go Ahead Eagles look to cash in on one their most prized assets…

The attacking midfielder who can also play on both flanks would be an ideal addition to our side which is extremely low on quality.

That’s something that will quite possibly deteriorate even further if key figures like Arne Engels, Reo Hatate, and quite possibly Benjamin Nygren could well be leaving the club in the coming weeks.

Jakob Breum was heavily linked with Celtic last summer

The 22 year old Dane was heavily linked with Celtic last summer, but any proposed interest was shelved due to his club being reluctant to sell.

Breum is a player capable of scoring and assisting as his stats more than back up, whilst also being very technically gifted, and very much a all round attacking player. That’s a trait that we are crying out for in our paper thin squad.

Price valuation, and his age fit perfectly into Celtic’s recruitment strategy

His price valuation, and his age fit perfectly into the club’s recruitment strategy of buying potential in a bid to profit further down the line.  So this transfer opportunity is a scenario we should be all over in our pursuit to bolster our squad.

The player himself is said to be interested in doing a deal, as are his club, so it’s not exactly a difficult playing field to negotiate. However with our club everything seems to be done with extreme difficulty.

Two recent sales can even fund the transfer fee

Luis Palma, and Hayato Inamura both left the club over the past week. In doing so fetching £4.5 million in fees combined, that is very much the transfer fee for Breum set aside.

The player is interested in a move, his club are willing to sell, and the buying club have the money. Sounds straightforward enough doesn’t it? It’s Celtic though, so don’t bank on it.

An ordinary everyday Celtic supporters hailing and still residing in Govan in the shadows of the enemy. I’m a season ticket holder. I Witnessed my first Celtic game in 1988 and have attended when I can ever since. Growing up in the 90s I witnessed Celtic at their lowest, and now appreciate the historic success we enjoy today. I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Shorts colleagues.

Of course it would be brilliant if things were as straightforward, as you just pointed out?

The biggest unknown, still remains as whether such players, view a move to ourselves, as a good career move?
Balikwisha is our most prominent at present, who would possibly disagree?
And not the first by any means, and certainly won’t be the last either?

Of course we are in a position financially, to make such a potential deal straightforward?
But what should we do, if a player and agent are prepared to play the waiting game, at this stage?
Without the window officially open yet, we can’t even make a take it or leave it offer, while we are only in the sounding out of potential players, at this stage of the process involved?

Would expect MoN and Maloney, to decide upon whether such players, have the potential profile as a player, which will suit how we intend to set up and play?
We haven’t a clue what that might be yet? But wouldn’t expect it to be to far from last season, in regards how our squad building process, will actually take place eventually?

Balikwisha, and a very mixed bag of loan deals, has set ourselves back somewhat admittedly, within our recruitment process?
But should also take into account, what the rushing in approach, gets you with a 40M spend, with the same prospects available, as ourselves on offer this summer?
Can make the claims of a better chance of CL football on offer, despite ourselves nowhere near a decent CL at present?
So potentially having to consider players who might be able to preform at europa league level, with the hope that they can step up, if and when such occasions do come along for ourselves?
Even so, the SPFL is still becoming a harder sell for players, all the same?
Hopefully MoN can improve matters, much in the same way Ange was able to do so, with his famous phone calls, directly to players, which seems to have been forgotten about these days?

Accept it is possible a far harder job for himself, these days, in trying to convince players, that a move to ourselves is a fantastic opportunity that awaits them, within there careers?
But would also require Nicholson to back MoN and Maloney judgement moreso, and getting deals actually completed, instead of this low balling and stalling approach, that he’s getting to renowned for taking, by the reports handed out to ourselves?

Would like to think that a far better working relationship, can be in operation this summer, between Nicholson, MoN and Maloney?
As nothing suggests that was the case last summer between Nicholson, Rodgers and Tisdale in place imo?
Yet it’s still not totally clear upon where DD fits into the whole process involved, but surely he has to be more hands on, in order to make the whole process involved, run far better, than previous summer transfer windows have gone, especially with the amount of work that will be required by ourselves within it.
Haven’t got any time factor upon our side, with the world cup, going to make pre season plans, far more complicated this summer?

Would regard this summer, as potentially the biggest to tackle in recent times, by some distance also?
Still wouldn’t like to call the eventual outcome, particularly at this stage of the proceedings anyway?
But can totally understand that confidence levels, would remain fairly low at present within our support at present, that they will be finalised satisfactory?
It is impossible to please everyone within the process involved, especially with the patience factor running very thin at present within our club?
Potentially going to be testing for ourselves, in trying to place trust within the decision making, that’s going to be involved within the process, but haven’t really got any other choice available to ourselves currently either imo?

Your “logic” of money in is equal to money out for a player is incredibly naive!
      It doesn’t necessarily apply!
Just because we get £4.5M in for a couple of players who were out on loan, costing us NOTHING, doesn’t mean we have £4.5M to buy a player who will now probably command at least £1M salary, probably another £1M signing bonus, £1.75M agent fee etc., which all has to be taken into account!
Salaries are ALWAYS overlooked! People think, “why not give him twice as much?” Answer? Because decisions like this create friction in the dressing room!
