Celtic defender Auston Trusty is awaiting news on an ankle injury sustained in the USA’s defeat to Turkey in the early hours of this morning…

Trusty and his national side have still made it to the knockout stage of the tournament, where they will face off against Bosnia-Herzegovina in the Last-32, despite losing 3-2 in their last group phase match.

The big centre-back endured a somewhat mixed campaign with the Hoops this year, earning praise for some great performances, particularly in Europe, whilst also getting some criticism too for weak showings against physically imposing domestic opponents, in his occasionally uncertain partnership with Liam Scales at the heart of the Celtic defence.

Trusty bagged a goal on the night for his country, netting just three minutes into play kick-off in the Los Angeles Stadium.

However he had to be stretchered off at one point, after rolling his ankle pretty badly, in what was quite a scare for those of a Celtic persuasion. The 26-year-old eased some of those fears post-match though, revealing he hopes to be fine for the US tie with Bosnia-Herzegovina in the Round of 32.

    ‘I’ll be all right’

Speaking to Fox Sports after the match had finished 3-2 to Turkey in L.A., a somewhat sore Trusty revealed: “I don’t know. I can’t really react to it. Honestly, I am in my head right now. I rolled my ankle pretty bad. I’ll be all right… I heard a little something, but I’ll be fine. No worries.”

Hopefully it’s nothing too serious, as we cannot afford to lose anymore players for any reason at present.

🍀 Celtic finally confirm Martin O’Neill’s backroom team for the new season.

Celtic back at Lennoxtown for first day of pre-season

With Shaun Maloney and Mark Fotheringham being officially announced today from the club, along with Stephen McManus, hopefully targets are ready to be signed, sealed and delivered to a squad that badly needs reinforced.

There’s no word on Gavin Strachan’s replacement, hopefully WGS’s son has left the password for the laptop.
