Arne Engels is set to leave Celtic. The cash bounty should help soften the blow but only if the club reinvest the majority if not all of it on new signings…
Arne Engels set for summer exit from Celtic
Arne Engels looks set to leave Celtic this coming summer, due to the recent revelation that he’s signed up with the DWMA Football agency, with several Serie A clubs, including AC Milan monitoring the Belgian midfielder’s situation.

The man who became Celtic’s record signing back in 2024, when Brendan Rodgers persuaded the club to splash out a club record fee of £11 million for the then FC Augsburg midfielder was the subject of several failed bids from EPL side Nottingham Forest in the January window.
Now it’s unlikely the club will be able to keep hold of Arne this upcoming summer window with serval other sides now showing serious interest.

Nottingham Forest has a £25m bid for Engels rejected in January
Forest reportedly offered upwards of £25 million for Arne as they desperately tried to entice him down south in January. And it looks as if the interested clubs this time around will offer similar, or possibly bid even higher to acquire the four times Belgian capped midfielder’s services.
🚨❌ Arne Engels pursuit over

📌 Forest’s third offer of £20m guaranteed plus £5m add-ons was turned down after two previous rejections.

Celtic will find it hard to refuse an offer to more than double their cash on a player they splashed out a club record fee just two years ago, so it seems inevitable that the 23 year old will be leaving Glasgow in the coming months.

It will be a blow to lose Arne Engels
Whilst it will be a blow to lose Arne, a player despite being regularly criticised, is a superb player who contributes massively to the way Celtic play.
The cash we will receive for his signature will soften the blow somewhat, but one things for sure, and that is we will need to reinvest a big chunk if not all the bounty on recruiting new players to strengthen our lightweight squad.
A massive summer squad overhaul ahead for Scottish Champions
Celtic badly requires a summer rebuild, and receiving a handsome fee for one of our prized assets should go a long way in ensuring we can revamp our ailing squad.
Maybe the club will also be tempted to dip into that £70m they have resting in the bank? Or then again, maybe not.
Just an Ordinary Bhoy

Was always on the cards that Engels could well be leaving this summer?
Think he’s just finished the 2nd year of his 4 year contract, so sell on value will possibly be at it’s highest, so fully expect ourselves to cash in on the opportunity imo?
Don’t think Engels really enjoyed Scottish football, but the learning experience, he has gained within it, will benefit him within his career imo?
Not entirely clear still as to what is the most suitable midfield role for Engels as a player? But would expect there being no shortage of offers for him all the same?
The player trading model of ours, shouldn’t have a shortage of incoming funds, but the required spend from ourselves, will have to be decent regardless?
But as usual, will expect the rebuild to be done with a profit by the time the transfer window shuts, so some things will never change, especially all the while the player trading model remains strong imo?
