Celtic have been heavily linked with a move for Rodez AF player Taïryk Arconte, a player who by all accounts could be the perfect replacement for the soon to be departing Daizen Maeda…

There’s still a slim chance and hope that the energetic Japanese talisman will decide to extend his stay, but unfortunately, he realistically looks to have played his last game for the club.

The player we are credited with an interest in, Taïryk Arconte is a former French under 19 international, but now full Guadeloupean international has enjoyed a stand out campaign in the French second tier, scoring 14 goals and registering three assist as Rodez battled for promotion to the top flight.

Described as a fast pacy right sided winger, who can also play through the middle, and indeed being right footed he could no doubt adapt to the right hand side much like Daizen has for the biggest part of his Celtic career, 22 year old Arconte sounds very much like a player who could fill the Japanese internationals boots.

Studying Arconte in action shows you that he’s a dynamic sort of player, one who likes to take defenders on and isn’t afraid to have a pop at goal as his record suggests.

His work ethic is also impressive, with his keenness to press opponents and sharply pounce on any mistakes again similar to Daizen.

Of course, no one is ever going to fully replace Daizen, as he’s very much a one off, and we most likely will never see his likes again. That’s very much a fact, and one than we will have to accept, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t search for an adequate replacement, and Arconte could well be that man.

Rated in the £3 – £4 million bracket, Arconte could well be a player that we should be considering making a swoop for.

An ordinary everyday Celtic supporters hailing and still residing in Govan in the shadows of the enemy. I’m a season ticket holder. I Witnessed my first Celtic game in 1988 and have attended when I can ever since. Growing up in the 90s I witnessed Celtic at their lowest, and now appreciate the historic success we enjoy today. I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Shorts colleagues.

I agree Mark he looks a player mate and he’s at the right age and price range for us to develop and move him on for a large fee as well. He’ll have suitors though so any move would have to be made quickly but he’s the type that would excite the Celtic supporters and dare I say his final ball is better than Daizen’s.
