Two cracking goals from Chermiti and Daizen Maeda, with two very different outcomes…
We have seen some fantastic goals in this year’s Scottish Premiership, indeed the overall winner by the Rangers striker Youssef Chermiti was admittedly an absolute stunning goal, even though it was for our bitter rivals, and it was against us!
I’m sure we can all agree it was a truly outstanding effort. Anyone disagreeing would have to own the thickest pair of green tinted specs on the market!
As much as it was a worthy winner of the goal of the season, it once again showed how premature the selection process is considering there were other worthy efforts after the nominations were locked in.

It’s similar to the manager of the year award which was awarded to Derek McInnes, even though he won nothing after choking when it really mattered in the league and getting knocked out of both cups in the early stages.
Our own talisman Daizen Maeda produced one of these efforts, with his outstanding acrobatic stunner in the 3-1 win over the Rangers at Celtic Park earlier this month more than a worthy goal of the season contender.

Both goals are superb efforts, and very much in the ‘worldly’ category, but Daizen’s effort means all that much more due to the significance of the goal, and how much it meant in the long term regarding the destination of the league title, which thanks to Daizen had the G40 postcode as its arrival destination on the satnav.
It’s great to score spectacular goals, but when you have nothing to show for it at the end of the day, then it’s very much pointless, unless your only motive is self preservation.

Diazen’s goal meant everything in the grand scheme of things, as it aided the club in their aim to win the title. Chermiti’s goal was nothing more than a consolation prize for a player and club who failed to win anything of significance, that’s the difference.
Just an Ordinary Bhoy

Maeda goal was far better strike, due to he had no rights to score when he receives the football.
Had to generate a strike, before the execution of such a strike has to be taken into consideration.
Both executed perfectly with the finsh involved, in giving a keeper no chance of saving the likes whatsoever.
But the deciding factor for myself anyway, is Maeda required more than just the finish, along with as you pointed out, the importance of the goal in a winning performance.
When you break it all down, there’s not really a contest between the two imo?
More biased green balls of course.
