Well, after our performance and result at Tannadice I didn’t think we would win the League. We may still not but to be in the position we are is all down to Martin O’Neill…
We are in desperate need of better players but he has somehow coaxed these players into at least getting results if not playing well. Sunday was best display for a long time. My only gripe was that I thought we should have had a bit more of a go for a fourth goal. That could be vital if we need goal difference to win the League.
With the way this season is going nothing would surprise me over the two remaining games. Knowing the way “fate” works in football it would not surprise me that with all the talk about a last day decider the title might be won on Wednesday night.
Equally I wouldn’t be surprised if we ended up on top of table on Wednesday night.
Fir Park was always the most difficult of the post split fixtures for me. It will be tough but if we can produce a similar display as on Sunday but with a bit better pressing then we could get three points.
The game at Tynecastle will be a very nervy one I think. Hearts missing some key players, and if there isn’t an early goal then the players and the crowd will be very jittery.
If we draw and Hearts win by 1-0 I’d be confident of us getting a victory by two goals on Saturday. If they beat Falkirk by two goals that’s where I will be disappointed that we didn’t get one more on Sunday. There have been only three league games this season that we have won by more than two goals – and they were all against bottom six sides.
Anyway will be an interesting morning here in Aotearoa tomorrow. Main screen will have the game from Fir Park but we’ll be keeping an eye on the events at Tynecastle on the small screen.
