Wilfried Nancy has spoken candidly about his turbulent 33 days in charge of Celtic during a recent podcast interview…

The Frenchman succeeded Martin O’Neill in December but lasted just over a month at the helm after suffering six defeats from his eight matches in charge.

Speaking on the Training Ground Guru Podcast, the 49-year-old looked back on his difficult time in Glasgow and shared his thoughts on the experience.

Wilfried Nancy’s ‘beautiful experience’ at Celtic

He said: “It was a beautiful experience, because first of all, you know the passion. I do my job with passion, and that’s why I love my job,

“I’m looking for players who play with passion, and obviously, you know, this club, the fans, and the city, we can feel it, and it’s been amazing for that.

The Celtic brand is something that I like a lot

“Obviously, things could have been better, but again, I think that life is about moments, and I think that the moment when I went there, with reflection, was maybe not a good moment, because the Celtic brand is something that I like a lot.

“That’s why I wanted to go over there, despite the fact that I had many opportunities with a lot of humility with different clubs, but I decided to go there, because of the history of the club, and so on.”

Nancy added: “Before getting there, I knew that it could be difficult regarding the schedule, how many games were played before me, how many games that we had to play when I’m going to get there, and the injured players.

“That’s why I put everything into perspective, but again, after that, the pressure is the pressure, and they (Celtic) changed their mind. I spent a really good time over there. Obviously, I didn’t have enough time, especially the way I coach and do things, but yeah, this is the way it is.

“I have no bad words regarding what happened over there. This is part of my journey, I would say.”
