The cataclysmic outrage levelled against Celtic, the referee, VAR, and even the ‘hidden Vatican hand’, has dominated every media outlet, blog, and social media post around the country and beyond…

It’s all been focussed on one footballing incident; the handball, and foul on Celtic’s Auston Trusty by Motherwell’s Sam Nicholson.

    There; fixed that for you.

When you analyse the facts without reaching for your bag of Pampers, there was a clear and obvious foul in the box. Two actually when you break it down.

The ball was launched from a throw-in, Trusty went to header said ball, and Nicholson threw his hand up in ‘an unnatural position’ as per the rule book. The ball struck both his hand, and perhaps his head, as it bulleted back out the goal area.

It’s a penalty all day long

VAR spotted the ‘clear and obvious foul’, and self-confessed, Rangers supporter, John Beaton took merely a few seconds to award the Title-changing spot-kick.

He could have said, “No, it’s not a clear infringement.”

He could have said, “I’m not certain, so let’s share the points.”

He didn’t; he pointed to the spot, causing apoplexy in the Sky Sports studio among the Sky pundits, John Robertson, Paul Hartley and Kris Boyd.

    Celtic’s coolest Bhoy Kelechi Iheanacho

Kelechi Iheanacho coolly slotted home, causing carnage among the vast away support who celebrated their reprieve after seemingly blowing their chance to retain the Scottish Premiership trophy.

Those are the facts, and they are undisputed in the minds of anyone with a reasonable pair of eyes, and an unbiased viewpoint.

Let’s be frank; there’s no way on God’s good earth that Dallas Jr and Beaton would have collaborated to ‘gift’ Celtic a chance of yet another League Championship flag. Why should they? What’s in it for them especially as both are well known Rangers supporters?

The rage shown by Krys Boyd & Co in the Sky studios pretty much sums up the abject hatred of Celtic in most punditry circles in the UK, not just Scotland; Messrs, Lineker and Stelling anyone?

The Hearts manager – who enjoys a wee singsong – Derek McInnes calling the decision “disgusting”…will there be repercussions as there were when Celtic managers spoke out in a less severe fashion? I’ll wait…

Celtic has consistently fought back against the odds

Nobody is talking about this; Celtic has consistently fought back against the odds numerous times this season, snatching points from the jaws of defeat.

The Fir Park comeback will rank right up there with the best and proves that Martin O’Neill has galvanised a lacklustre squad to do what we do best; refuse to accept defeat.

No credit has been given to Callum McGregor’s men as they battled yet again to stay in this fiercest of races. So, I’m saying it. Well done Bhoys, you have made us proud, and we are with you all the way!

The fiercely partisan cauldron of Paradise on Saturday

Celtic may well beat Hearts in the fiercely partisan cauldron of Paradise on Saturday to provoke similar celebrations witnessed at Fir Park in Scotland and Ireland and around the World his weekend.

Hearts may hold out for the win, or draw, which would take the Title to Edinburgh, and out of Glasgow for the first time in 40 years. It would be their first title triumph in 66 years so very few of their supporters have any memory of Hearts being Scottish Champions.

If they do it, I will graciously congratulate them, they will have earned it, and Scottish football will have changed significantly as a result.

Neither scenario will change this however; Celtic Football Club and our supporters are disliked by so many in Scotland, and also by many around the UK.

This because of our heritage, plus our tremendous successes over the decades, winning the European Cup being a trophy which has stuck in the throats of our rivals for almost 60 years. Winning 13 titles in the past 14 seasons, winning a quadruple treble, the list goes on…

Suck it up Boydy & Co; win, lose or draw on Saturday, we love our club, and will never bow to your disgraceful outrages and bitter ramblings. Oh and enjoy third place; you got what you deserve by finding your level in Scottish football.

    Know your place.

    Hail Hail!

Now the dust has settled.. The reaction from many high profile people is way over the top. John Beaton was advised to go to the monitor and saw that the ball hit the arm in an unnatural position Bottom line is people would hate to see Celtic win the title again and that is all.

His unnaturally raised arm also impedes Trusty from flicking his header in to the danger area, Nicholson knew what he was doing and gambled on it being “overlooked”, however he was wrong and his stupid challenge was correctly punished……..

There are so many points to debate here Dando, but anyone who rages over a simple, lawful decision puts themself. They did. HH

Great article…I believe that gaslighting your rivals in sport is fair game.. once over lunch we decided a to wind up some hun pals by telling them that an aging Gary McAllister was leaving Liverpool to join rangers …a great laugh at the angry reaction and to round it off the Daily hun carried the story…that is supporters on supporters.. Boyd and mccoist hold responsible roles in the media and their behavior towards Celtic has become unacceptable…it’s time their employers removed them… Sutton has always let the Celtic support have a balanced objective view ..which is healthy … With those other 2 …it has become demean Celtic at every opportunity

      • Eddie Murray on May 15, 2026 10:19 pm

Thanks Stevie- the only people calling out these outrageous behaviours are outlets such as Celtic Shorts. A blind eye is the norm elsewhere. HH

It’s been a worrying time. Perhaps the same type of person displays the same “Righteous Anger”against migrants, and those needing societal assistance, as well as that time honoured anger against Irish Catholic migrants from the 1840s onward.
Now Reform is gobbling up the “Angry Voter”, and I heard Malcolm Offord saying that people entering the UK had to integrate. That concept of integration could be very extreme in the hands of Reform.
Certainly, since our debated penalty against Motherwell, I’ve never experienced, nor heard on the mainstream media, so many acidic attitudes against Celtic.
On the other hand, any morons who invaded the pitch on Saturday, or set off flares at any other time, might be better to show love for Glasgow Celtic by not invading pitches and not setting off flares. These are not beneficial activities.

Deflection tactics or what. All talk in media about last minute penalty. Very little if any coverage of The Rangers finishing third place, only qualifying for conference league unless Celtic loose the Cup Final. Out of all competitions and another winless season. Their fans calling for Rhols resignation etc etc

      • Eddie Murray on May 15, 2026 10:21 pm

Shhh John, you can’t say that in Scotland! You’ll be called a bigot…won’t you? 😉

    4. kelly on May 15, 2026 9:29 am

The anger and hate in Boyds voice was on show for all to see even the following day on a podcast that penalty outed quite a lot of bigoted idiots but we already knew them
The one good thing to come out of it is both Beaton and Dallas are also on the hate list although they’re not getting it as tight
if you watch our first goal the foul on yang should have been a sending off ,motherwell player goes in at force studs up and leading over the ball right in front of Beaton, play it in slow motion

      • Eddie Murray on May 15, 2026 10:23 pm

But…but…it wasn’t Celtic who did it so don’t talk about it!
Maeda getting flattened? Nothing to see here. It’s all about them, right?

      • Eddie Murray on May 15, 2026 10:26 pm

History will condemn them, but not in the Brit media Jack. Twas always the way. That’s why sites such as Celtic Shorts have become popular over the years. It’s the only way our voices will be heard. HH
