The time has come to really focus on who should lead Celtic into the future…and in my opinion it should NOT be Robbie Keane…
Now that the dust is beginning to settle on that outrageous campaign, which somehow or other saw the club end with silverware thanks to Martin O’Neill, yet still somehow contrive to alienate large sections of the fanbase, the time has come to really focus on who should lead Celtic into the future and figurehead the significant rebuild which is required.
One name that is sticking seems to be former Ireland international Robbie Keane.

The man who had a short stint in the green and white hoops during the 2009/10 season has recently left our old European foe Ferencvaros, and it has sent the rumour mill into a frenzy since then.

We all know the largest shareholder has a penchant for Irish talent – particularly in the dugout – and with the man in question having a previous connection, you can imagine the temptation is there for the club to get him cheap.
I would suggest that a move for Robbie Keane would be unnecessarily divisive for a support that is already at war with the club’s custodians.

The season just ended has admittedly been fraught with tension and angst, most of it self-manufactured from those up above, and I would err caution with the next appointment as many supporters won’t be far away from bringing those frustrations to the surface, if they feel the Board are not taking this season as a major watershed moment.
Many believe that their time is already up and that they shouldn’t be anywhere near the next manager appointment and club restructure – I can’t argue with that either. However, whilst acknowledging that change upstairs is required, the show goes on in the meantime, unfortunately.
That means that certain individuals will almost certainly be involved in choosing and backing the new manager in the Celtic dugout, along with deciding the length and breadth of our restructuring project in the football department.
Sigh…
Whatever they do, a move for Robbie Keane would set the conditions for another season like the previous one, with disharmony and chaos ready to unload at the first bad result or performance.
The ill-feeling and disdain within the Celtic community this past season has been saddening to witness and it must be avoided at all costs.

That’s why I believe the Club should ignore the temptation to appoint a novice like Robbie Keane, who also comes with additional baggage that could potentially ruin the campaign before it has even begun.
If the Celtic Board are serious about unity, a Keane coronation should be kiboshed before it gets off the ground…

That’s your opinion,although not decision to make
The managerial role, could well be decided by what role MoN is going to have, within the whole process imo?
Personally don’t want to see MoN stay in the manager role? Many would disagree all the same, which is OK also?
Think MoN has a more important role to play behind the scenes, in creating better stability for the longer term, with such a high respect factor within our club imo?
So could Robbie Keane work under the guidance of MoN, along with the current coaching staff, and be accepted by the player’s we already have under contract?
It’s impossible to say that such a theory in a working plan, couldn’t actually work out better for ourselves imo?
No matter who ends up in our managerial position, won’t be to everyone’s liking possibly?
But still say, that the MoN factor, could well help things run more smoothly than a year ago, especially when we are facing far more changes within our squad building process imo?
If Maloney is genuinely being lined up as some kind od Director of Football, and if MoN could also stay on in some advisory capacity, then it makes a big difference to anybody coming in to the role.
Crucially, MON might have the ear of the overseas Dictator, and combined with Maloney’s rising star – then just possibly things like recruitment and planning ahead suddenly become professionally managed for once.
Wishful thinking I know, but if Keane did come in, I would want him here surrounded by the coaching staff and management that triumphed this year. Not to interfere, but to give him a solid foundation, a link to the Board through Maloney and a way of getting action from DD via MON.
Possibilities. But I would still settle for sacking every Board member and getting rid of DD, who’s oversight into the clubs operating has been grossly negligent.
