Former Celtic captain Paul Lambert believes Danny Rohl misjudged the situation when he attempted to engage in psychological tactics involving Martin O’Neill earlier in the season…

The ex-Hoops midfielder – who enjoyed major success playing under O’Neill at Celtic Park – suggested the German coach made a mistake by publicly questioning the O’Neill’s tactical approach.
Lambert’s comments relate to remarks made by Rohl following Celtic’s European meeting with VfB Stuttgart, when the Bundesliga side were protecting a 4-1 advantage from the first leg.
Although Celtic struck early in the return fixture courtesy of Luke McCowan, Rohl later admitted he had expected the Hoops to attack more aggressively in pursuit of an unlikely comeback.
‘He made a mistake trying to have a go at Martin,’ reckons Lambert
Speaking to talkSPORT after Celtic’s 3-1 victory over the Ibrox club, Lambert claimed Rohl had erred by directing criticism towards a manager with O’Neill’s experience and stature in the game.
He said: “He made a mistake by trying to have a go at Martin about the Stuttgart game and have a go about his team. He shouldn’t have done that. Someone from the PR situation at Rangers should have handled that better for him. In terms of silverware, no he has not [done a good job]. And that is the reality of it.

“It’s definitely not acceptable for Rangers not to win anything and they are still not going too.I don’t know Danny Rohl. He is probably a nice guy, but what I do know about being an Old Firm footballer is you have to win, and the Rangers fans will certainly tell him that.
“Finishing third is 100 per cent not good enough. If you finish second you are last. Finish third? Forget it.”

Spot on Paul! Clearly the “sausage” Rohl isn’t too quick to learn either, having gone down in all three domestic tournaments to the very hands of the same man he criticized!
All this despite heavy SFA backing all season!
