Polish champions Lech Poznan are attempting to negotiate a reduced transfer fee for Celtic winger Luis Palma as they look to keep him beyond the end of his loan spell.
The Honduras international is due to return to Glasgow this summer after spending the second half of the season in Poland, where he has impressed in the Ekstraklasa.
Lech had previously agreed an option to buy Palma for around £3.5 million, but the figure is understood to be beyond the club’s budget as it would represent a record signing.

Instead, the Polish side have now tabled an offer worth around £2 million in an effort to strike a permanent deal for the 26-year-old.
Palma’s recent performances reportedly attracted interest from Spanish outfit Sevilla, with the La Liga side linked with the winger earlier this year.

Despite that speculation, Lech manager Niels Frederiksen recently reiterated his desire to retain Palma on a long-term basis.
“There will be time to decide on his future and, in my opinion, he’s also quite happy in Poznan,” he said via The Herald.
The former Aris Thessaloniki player remains under contract with Celtic for another two years.

The situation is quite simple surrounding Palma.
The chances of him playing for ourselves, by earning a squad place for next season, may well be very slim at present, but can’t be totally ruled out just yet anyway imo?
We certainly won’t be to interested in giving him away, for less than we paid for him, at this stage anyway?
So possibly falls into the category of getting assessed by a new manager, before any final decision is taken, unless the asking price is actually met?
Palma is not alone either in having 2 years left on a current contract either, so any potential price upon a player, will start to fall quite quickly, upon themselves if they don’t get sold over the summer period?
Should there fortunes turn around within our club, then they will potentially fall into the higher contracts available to themselves, only if the player wishes to do so, in the longer term?
Don’t think any of our returning loan players, see a longer term with ourselves imo?
Hope that doesn’t apply to our returning youngsters also, especially when some of them, could be considered as 3rd choice options in positions. That would also require an improvement upon development, which we are still struggling badly with?
Thing with Palma is, I never really thought he was best suited in the wide left position imo?
Maybe more of the current Nygren role, is where he is best suited, with the option of wide left, if that situation arises.
If he can provide that flexibility within the setting up of our squad, then couldn’t totally rule that option out just yet, especially when he had far more about him as a player, than Balikwisha has ever shown for ourselves.
