Hearts rather predictable failure to take all three points at Fir Park when the heat was well and truly on is a welcome boost to Celtic’s title chances, but it only we make it fully count by beating the Rangers in today’s Glasgow Derby at Celtic Park…
The men in maroon suffered a frustrating Saturday evening against the Steelmen, and despite celebrating at the end, dropping points in the run in when you only have a small cushion, isn’t the best of results. You can clearly tell that this is an entirely alien situation for the Jambos players and supporters alike, outside of the older ones who were already back in 1986.
If Celtic can overcome the Rangers later today, and on recent form, it’s for from certain, it will put us just a solitary point behind the Jambos with two to play, and put our title chances firmly in our own hands.
Today we have to make it count, we just have to turn this into a Beautiful Sunday. If we have any aspirations of clinching five consecutive titles then we need to win all our remaining games, that’s what we have to do. Sounds easy and straightforward doesn’t it?
All three title contenders wanted to win their five games. Only Celtic can still do it and if he can keep that run going we will go into the Scottish Cup Final against Dunfermline as 5IAR Scottish Champions, looking to wrap up un extremely unlikely double.
However, such is football, it will be anything but straightforward or easy, but Hearts slipping up should give us a massive boost and extra motivation heading into this afternoon’s pressure filled fixture.
If you were to have told us all a few weeks ago that all we had to do was win our last three fixtures, and we would win the title, then we would have snapped your hands clean off.
It’s all there for us to be successful in our aim. We just need to have the confidence to succeed, starting this afternoon.
We got the positive outcome we craved at Fir Park, we just need to make it count by winning a Glasgow Derby in the league for the first time in almost two years. Today Celtic must take care of our own title winning business and then it’s all eyes on Fir Park as Martin O’Neill looks to settle an old personal score going all the way back to May 2005.

Today it’s delivering another Beautiful Sunday at Celtic Park against a wounded animal of an opponent. Play our football the way we can and roared on by 58,000 Celtic supporters we can do win the points and move closer to achieving our objectives.

The wind will be out of the Raynjurz sails a wee bit, but they’ll be desperate and physical and eager to spoil our title chances.
In some ways, if we hold the nerve and stay alert, that type of game might suit us, providing space and opportunities to counter and attack at pace rather than the “heid aff a brick wall” games when the opposition park the bus.
Whoever starts, whoever comes on as a sub, its time to show the mettle and the bawz of steel. Just a win.
