It’s no secret that we need reinforcements in the centre forward position if we want to keep a grip on our dominance of the Scottish game, and make an impact in Europe next season…

Celtic’s lack of quality striking options is one of the main factors for our regression this past year or so.  And it is clear that the Celtic Board’s repetitive incompetent failings on the recruitment front has back to bite us badly this season. This is something we must put right in this coming summer transfer window.

I’ve listed a few names that are realistic options for us to pursue, and if those in charge have any ambitions at all, then they should be going all out to bring in this calibre of player to Celtic for next season.

First up is a guy I’ve mentioned a few times while we were all over on The Celtic Star, hope you like our new home here on Celtic Shorts. He is one who has been linked with our club in the past, most recently in the January transfer window…

That would be Bodo/Glimt’s Danish centre forward Kasper Hogh.

Kasper Hogh, 25 is the calibre of player we should be going all out to bring to the club. He fits the club’s transfer strategy in that he’s the right age, and could make us a future profit further down the road.

The Danish international is a huge physical presence, and has a track record of scoring goals, particularly in European football. He’s a quality player, and would cost big money, we would quite possibly have to break our transfer record, but he would be worth the investment.

Next up is Tobias Lauritsen, a Danish born striker who plays for Dutch side Sparta Rotterdam.

Lauritsen, 28 who stands at 6ft 3in has scored 11 goals so far for Sparta in the Dutch Eredivisie, with an overall impressive record of 51 goals in 133 games during his stay in Rotterdam.

Unlike Hogh, Lauritsen wouldn’t cost a fee due to his contract at Sparta coming to a close this summer, so he should be very much in our thoughts when it comes to bolstering our forward line.

Hogh and Lauritsen are very much two players Celtic should be targeting. Both could do a brilliant job for us and importantly both are players who could have significant sell-on potential in coming seasons.

It’s ok targeting players, but that doesn’t mean that they have any real interest in being part of the SPFL either?
The SPFL seems to be becoming a harder sell, in each passing window for the quality of player we are hoping for?
So the percentage rate is dropping, for ourselves, with players we can regard as successful signings?
There still remains an attitude within our club, that the board gets it, when a signing is unsuccessful, and the manger gets great credit for the successful signing, and all without actually knowing upon how the structure of the decision making is made?
Of course this season, the whole structure has been called into question, with the results that have been delivered, and hopefully huge improvements are going to be made during the summer?

But nothing is guaranteed within the transfer market. Even the striker position is not going to be straightforward either.
At present, using Maeda and kelchi, for which both offer totally different profiles for ourselves within the striker position?
Has been fairly successful over the past number of seasons, with 2 totally different profile of striker in place, which can offer variations to ourselves in an attacking sence.
Hardly surprising, when you consider the amount of variation, we have to endure over the course of a season, with how teams are going to set up and play against ourselves?

This season has possibly been the worst in a very long time, regarding ourselves with the striker role?
If Maeda moves on as expected, he won’t be easy to replace, especially with adding an option in the wide areas also, for our squad?
Still have Osmand to come back, with decisions to be made upon kelchi and Kenny for the striker role?
Balikwisha was meant to be an option for across the whole front line, but not even an option for a squad place at present?

So agree that the striker role has to be addressed, but at present we haven’t even got a manager in place, to decide upon what profile of striker he is even going to be looking for, especially within our price bracket?
Same will apply to our wide options, and even more so with how our midfield areas are going to be reshaped?
Any striker is going to need service, as to how that’s going to be provided, might help with the actual choice and profile of the striker we are going to be looking for and require also imo?
Like any new incoming players, we also need the players to not only fit into the system of play, that will be in operation.
But also have the character and personality with the ability, to handle the demands that comes with our club?
Many such players, may see ourselves as a potential gateway to bigger contracts for themselves in the future, but they also have to earn that right for such contracts also?
For so many players, there biggest achievement within there careers, was just signing for ourselves in the first place.
We still need a far better return than that, which has been in existence this season? And that’s throughout the whole rebuilding of the squad building process that will be involved imo?
