‘I’ve believed the whole time,’ Benjamin Nygren
“It’s very strong, I’ve believed the whole time, and you have to do that. We’ve had a lot of confidence, especially in the last couple of games,” Celtic’s Player of the Year said, while speaking to the Mainstream Media at Lennoxtown yesterday afternoon. The Celtic fan media remains banned.
“We’ve been very good and very strong, so we’re going for it,” Benjamin Nygren remarked as he looked forward to the two remaining matches in this turbulent Scottish Premiership campaign for Celtic.
‘We’re hunting in every game,” Benjamin Nygren
“I’ve felt the confidence in the group and in the squad the whole season, and I think we’ve showed so many times when we’ve been down in some games that we’ve kept believing and kept going for it.
“I think the hunger of winning is at max level and we’re hunting in every game. And we’re putting so much pressure on the opponent in every game, it’s been very good.”
Even after that poor performance and disappointing result up at Tannadice back in March, Nygren revealed that his belief didn’t waver and he remained convinced that Celtic would win the title.
“That’s the mindset you need to have, you always have to believe in anything and have confidence that you’re going to win, and that you’re going to turn it around, otherwise it’s a lot more difficult to do it.”
After experiencing just how good this Motherwell side is in that painful 2-0 defeat at Fir Park back in December, Nygren appreciates the that getting the points this evening will be no easy task.
“It’s going to be a very difficult game, Motherwell are a very good team,” Nygren
“For sure it’s going to be a very difficult game, Motherwell are a very good team, and they’ve been doing very well.
“Last time we were there we had a very difficult game. So, we know that it’s a good team, but we’re going there to win and now the situation is very different than last time.”
Celtic were in a real mess of their own making back in December as the players suffered under the doomed tactical plan hastily introduced by rookie appointment Wilfied Nancy. That cost us 12 points and a Premier Sports Cup Final against a St Mirren side who have been doomed to the play-offs to retain their top flight credentials.
Why Martin O’Neill should have been allowed to stay on
Had Martin O’Neill been allowed to stay most supporters reckon that the league and that cup would have been won by now and we’d be eyeing up a Treble at Hampden on 23 May against Championship side Dunfermline Athletic.
But despite shooting ourselves in the foot, we’re still involved and it’s Martin O’Neill’s Celtic – a very different animal – that will take on Motherwell this evening. The stakes are high. Both sides have plenty to play for and for Celtic it’s all about getting the points then looking ahead to Hearts on Saturday for a title showdown.
