Douglas Ross (off, off, off,) losing his voice it seems…
Douglas Ross, the former Tory leader in Scotland who also happens to a member of the SFA refereeing fraternity, was at the centre of some controversy during our narrow but vital 2-1 win at Easter Road on Sunday afternoon.
Listen, I have no idea what team he grew up supporting or still does, but judging by his snivelling looks, and his choice of politics, the sensible bet would be on him having a fondness for Unionism and the blue half of Glasgow.
Douglas Ross was yards behind the play – he guessed wrongly that Maeda was offside
Douglas was quick to raise his flag after Daizen Maeda had swooped to give us a vital lead against a backs to the wall ten man Hibs side, with VAR having to overturn his ‘blunder’ after a quick review of the goal. If he was quick in flagging he was much slower keeping up with the play. Ross was about three or four yards BEHIND play and therefore whatever decision he gave – right or wrong – was nothing more than a guess.
And mibbe this one too for your chat @gordonduncan7 as to why the Ref AND VAR missed this or didn’t deem it necessary for a Ref review…? pic.twitter.com/GESqlPKGch

That wasn’t the moment that grabbed the attention of the Celtic supporters though, it was an earlier incident that caught our eye, the one which resulted in Hibs midfielder Jamie McGrath being ordered off after VAR intervened to upgrade his on field caution to a red, and rightly so.
Ross was right next to the reckless high tackle of Alistair Johnston
The Hibs player Jamie McGrath was late and nasty in his lunge at the returning Alistair Johnston, who in turn was quite lucky to be spared the agony of another spell on the treatment table.
Wee Douglas wasn’t far from the incident, and would have had a clear view of the incident, but remained quiet and was happy to let referee David Dickinson deal with the matter.
That’s quite the opposite of his reaction at a memorable Glasgow derby at Ibrox eight years ago. You know, the one when he instructed Willie Collum to send off Jozo Simunovic after he clashed with Alfredo Morelos as they battled for a loose ball.
Summary of the officials performance today:
– Dickinson didn’t give the Red initially
– Ross flags offside for our 1st
– Robertson allows Hibs handball goal
– Dickinson doesn’t give pen for 2 handed push on NygrenBut Huns say officials are helping us 🙄 pic.twitter.com/V2MI0xmtKh

Douglas was quite vocal and in sync with the forty odd thousand home supporters as he roared ‘off, off, off’ and looked confident with his decision, and ever so chuffed as the Hoops were reduced to ten men with the game firmly poised at 2-2.
But like then, we found a way to win to turn the match into our Beautiful Sunday, and spoil wee Dougie’s evening. Let’s hope he’s greetin once more when the results of Thursdays polling day are announced and also a week on Saturday when Celtic take on Hearts at Celtic Park.
Three more wins Celtic. Three more…
COYBIG!
Just an Ordinary Bhoy
