Reo Hatate has been shunned recently by Martin O’Neill, and as much as I can understand why, I believe he could be a vital player for Celtic in the vital last three league fixtures then the Scottish Cup final…

Reo is possibly seen as a ‘luxury’ player by Martin O’Neill, and it’s evident he doesn’t add much physicality to our already lightweight midfield.  However he has attributes we badly need in our three must win fixtures, and that is terrific guile and creativity, as well as an added goal threat.

Reo Hatate is a big game player

The Japanese star has always been something of a big game player, as he’s proved on numerous occasions in his Celtic career, and with the next three games of this campaign being in the ‘big game’ category, it would be wise to use his experience and ability to boost our quality significant in these fixtures.

We need to score goals in order to win our remaining games, but we also need to score more to boost our goal differential, which is currently five less than leaders Hearts who we face on the last day. If Hearts win their next two games, Celtic have to do that too but also win by a greater margin.

Something has to change personnel-wise if Celtic must chase goals

That’s easier said than done so something has to change personnel-wise and the difference maker for Celtic could be Reo Hatate.

If both sides win their next two fixtures, then it would mean we could only finish level with the Jambos, so scoring as many goals as we can is our aim as well as winning.

With a player like Reo in the side, it will give us a better chance of improving our goal difference, as he is someone who can create as well as take some of those chances that we will require in our bid to win the league.

Celtic need Reo’s creativity going into the final run of games

Reo might not be what you call a ‘team’ player, and is viewed as more of a ‘luxury’ but we need his creativity going into the final run of games, and it would be foolish not to at least consider utilising those talents.

We need our best players available if we are to be successful in securing five in a row, and Reo is one of our most creative in forward areas. Hopefully Martin O’Neill will be looking at the need for more goals over the next few games and come to the conclusion that Hatate could deliver the goods big time .
