Ange Postecoglou has emerged as a reported contender for the vacant Besiktas manager’s job following the departure of Sergen Yalçın.

The Turkish club are searching for a new boss after ending Yalçın’s spell in charge by mutual agreement after a frustrating campaign which saw Besiktas finish fourth in the Super Lig table.
Postecoglou has been out of work since leaving Nottingham Forest in October, with his short-lived tenure at the Premier League side lasting just 39 days.
Now preparing for a potential return to management ahead of the new season, the former Celtic boss is reportedly under consideration by the Istanbul outfit.

Turkish media outlets Fanatik and A Spor both claim Besiktas have included the Australian on a shortlist of possible candidates for the role.
A move to Turkey could also see Postecoglou reunite with striker Hyeongyu Oh, the South Korean forward he signed for Celtic during the January 2023 transfer window.
Reports in Turkey suggest Postecoglou is one of several names being discussed by the Besiktas hierarchy, alongside Oliver Glasner, Roberto Mancini, Arda Turan and Razvan Lucescu.
The 60-year-old’s next step in management remains uncertain following back-to-back sackings in England, leaving questions over whether another Premier League opportunity will arrive immediately.
Since leaving Forest, Postecoglou has remained active within the game through UEFA technical observer duties and is also expected to work as a pundit for ITV during this summer’s World Cup coverage.
