Fabrizio Romano via his X account stated: “Official: Benjamin Nygren wins Player of the Year Award after delivering 28 G/A for Celtic. Several clubs are already keen on the 24 year old for this summer window.”
At just 24 years old, Nygren demonstrated that he was no longer merely a prospect but a player capable of delivering as an impact player with goals or assists on a regular basis. He has also established himself in the Sweden national side, helping his country reach this summer’s World Cup Finals via the play-offs.
Benjamin Nygren’s debut season at Celtic can be regarded as a strong and largely successful introduction, marked by his attacking output, and an increasingly important role within the team.
After joining from FC Nordsjælland in the summer of 2025, Nygren arrived with a growing reputation following an impressive spell in Denmark. At Celtic, he quickly established himself as a regular in the first team, featuring heavily across domestic and European competitions. Over the course of the season, he made more than 50 appearances in all competitions, underlining both his fitness and the trust placed in him by the coaching staff.
Domestically, Nygren’s impact was particularly notable in the Scottish Premiership. He scored 15 league goals, making him one of Celtic’s most productive attacking players and also the club’s leading scorer.

His goal return was complemented by creative contributions, with around five assists, highlighting
his dual threat as both a finisher and playmaker. Nygren’s overall goal involvement rate—close to a contribution per game—demonstrated his efficiency in the final third.

In European competition, Nygren also showed his quality. In the UEFA Europa League, he contributed four goals and two assists in ten appearances, often providing a cutting edge in tighter matches. Although his Champions League involvement was more limited and less productive, his performances across Europe still suggested he could adapt to higher levels of competition with time.

Across all competitions, Nygren will finish his debut campaign with at least 20 goals, a highly respectable tally for a first season at a club with high expectations. He still have four games to play and his goals could help Celtic secure a Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup double, with Hearts and Dunfermline standing in the way in the respective competitions.
Nygren’s debut season at Celtic has clearly been successful. His contributions in goals, assists, and overall play made him a key figure in the squad, and his performances suggest he could become an even more central player in the club’s ambitions in the seasons ahead.

Earlier reports indicated that Benjamin Nygren was a Tottenham target at around £26m IF they managed to avoid relegation. Results at the weekend has clearly eased those concerns but Fabrizio Romano’s early intervention on this one suggests an early attempt to lure the Swede south of the border could be incoming.

In a business sense, the money we paid for nygren, will more than cover all the losses, that this season has bought about within the transfer market.
Unfortunately, business men, especially within our club, take this hugely into account.
As supporters, we look moreso upon what they provide upon the pitch, within squad terms?
And players able to make an impact with ourselves, always potentially opens the door for themselves, to gain far better contracts on offer elsewhere?
But isn’t that one of the main factors, that they are prepared to join ourselves in the first instance?
So a vicious cycle remains in operation, and will continue to do, especially if we haven’t got a core group of squad players, who are going to be here with ourselves for the longer term in mind?
If we had a track record for developing players, then fair enough, but we don’t.
We are moreso looking for players who can fit easier into a system of play, and team set up. Which means a hit and miss approach taken within the transfer market?
Cost effective this season, regarding taking the loan approach, but don’t believe that such a strategy is going to be to beneficial for ourselves next season imo?
We still require a good number of players who are going to be committed to our fortunes, moreso than players trying to put themselves within the shop window?
Don’t believe that was the case surrounding Nygren, but it could transpire for himself all the same?
Of course, he has delivered the goals return, within a 4231 in how our team is currently set up? His goals record within his position, makes himself the obvious choice for the position? Yet the quality factor within his all round game, still remains questionable, as to whether he is the strongest available, within our own club, for the position, with Sunday in mind?
So without knowing how any potential new manager, will look to setting up our team next season, there will always be room for an attacking midfielders within it,all the same.
Personally still believe that we will require a better all round option than Nygren, but will possibly have to be found, with paying less money, than what we will potentially receive for nygren?
He isn’t going to be the only player either, in such a situation either?
Hence there is potentially a number of players that we will sell, for much more than what we will actually buy the replacement for, within the squad building process that will be taken place?
Yet the demands are going to be looking for better all the same, to make ourselves a far better all round squad, that has been in operation this season?
A massive task awaits imo?
