The 28-year-old has enjoyed a hugely successful spell in Glasgow, collecting 10 domestic trophies during his time at the Hoops, including this season’s Premiership and Scottish Cup Double.

Interest in Maeda has continued to grow over the past year, with Bundesliga side Wolfsburg previously attempting to sign him during the January transfer window before negotiations ultimately collapsed.

Following Celtic’s victory at Hampden over Dunfermline, the squad returned to Celtic Park for further celebrations with supporters, where Maeda received a warm individual reception from the crowd before speaking on Celtic TV.

Reflecting on the closing weeks of the campaign, Daizen joked: “Well my performance increased towards the end, so I feel bad for that.”

His answer prompted laughter from teammates and fans before he was asked about his favourite strike of the season.

“Well the goal against Rangers was the best,” he replied.

Maeda then appeared visibly emotional when asked to address the supporters directly. “It has been a pleasure to play in front of you guys and that’s why we’ve got the Double this season,” he said. “I’m very happy about it.”

Keevins is just another midden of a reporter! He can not grab headlines unless he is joining the rest of the media snipers running Celtic down, just to keep his place amount the knuckle cracking media here in Scotland . Yes we know what he is but it seems that it is more lmportant to him to keep his knuckles in with his media reporters! Midden, I hope you rot in hell Keevins!!!
