The Japanese attacker has been instrumental in recent weeks, delivering a series of influential performances as Celtic moved to the brink of another league title. His standout contribution came in the derby clash with the Ibrox club, where he struck twice, including a spectacular overhead kick.

Despite remaining focused on finishing the campaign strongly with Celtic, Maeda admits he hopes strong displays for club and country can eventually earn him a move to England’s top flight.

Speaking to FootballZone via Glasgow Times, he said: “My dream has always been to play in the Premier League and challenge myself there one day. At the moment, I’m fully committed to Celtic and giving everything for the team.

“But I still believe there’s another level for me to reach. Ever since I was young, I’ve wanted to see how far I could go in the best league in the world. Even if it was only for a short spell, I’d love the chance to test my pace and ability at that level.”

Maeda also believes maintaining his fitness and consistency could help him achieve success with Japan on the international stage.

He added: “The most important thing is staying healthy and continuing to produce results. If I can keep doing that, then opportunities in the Premier League and a strong World Cup campaign will naturally become possible.

‘When I’m playing football, my concentration is completely on the game’

“I try not to complicate things too much. When I’m playing football, my concentration is completely on the game. Away from football, I spend time with my family, picking up my children or helping at home. That balance works perfectly for me.

“I feel like I’ve changed a lot as a player. I’m calmer now and more complete than I used to be. Physically and mentally, I think I’m performing at the highest level of my career.”
