Morgan Cross got on the end of a fine Saoirse Noonan cross from the edge of the box to find the back of the Rangers net this afternoon at a sparsely filled Hampden Park to give Celtic a backs-to-the-wall Women’s Scottish Cup Final triumph…

To win the Women’s Scottish Cup, Celtic FC Women actually had to defeat the FOUR teams who all finished above them in what was a hugely disappointing Scottish Women’s Premier League this season.

Hearts ended up as Champions, Glasgow City won the Sky Sports League Cup and today it was Celtic’s turn to get their hands on silverware with that hard-fought, backs to the wall victory over the Ibrox women who ended up as runners-up in all three competitions.

So zero trophies from six across the Rangers men and women’s teams this season despite heavily investing in both squads!

Last time that Celtic won the Women’s Scottish Cup was three years ago when Fran Alonso was the manager and our own commitment to developing the women’s team helped Celtic achieve record breaking crowd at Celtic Park and took a crowd that outnumbered the Rangers two to one in a packed North Stand at the National stadium. Changed days today in a sparsely populated Hampden with under 2000 in attendance.

We actually applied for media accreditation to the Scottish FA for today’s Women’s Scottish Cup Final and incredibly were refused (not for the first time0. We’ll not be applying again. No reason was given by the Scottish FA but you can bet it was at the insistence of the Celtic PR team who instigated the ban on Celtic Fan media covering women’s football claiming insincerely that they were going to review things.

Again the chances of that resuming in the new season are slim at the very best. None of the fan media chaps will be too bothered in any case and very few were ever interested in the kind of coverage we provide on The Celtic Star and Claire at Cynic Women offered to supporters.

As for Celtic FC Women, the success today was as welcome as it was unexpected. The Ghirls have endured a dreadful run of results going back a number of years against the Rangers and this season had lost ever match against the Ibrox outfit until today.

The Celtic FC squad is low on numbers and on quality, with many of the stalwart stars now showing clear signs of being well past their best.  A massive rebuild is necessary this summer but where is the money coming from for that to happen if it’s not from Celtic?

The Celtic FC Women operation is entirely self funding and with limited income from the Celtic support, no media exposure to speak of other than the Celtic TV output there’s little prospect of the PLC Board dipping into that £70m they have hoarded away to back the manager of the women’s team.

Today was a great day for the players and the supporters who have followed the team and endured a season of real struggles.

The match was on BBC Scotland so I wanted it there. The commentary was even more biased that in the mens game and with VAR in operation today, the co-commentary spent a considerable amount of energy arguing for VAR to award a non existent penalty to Rangers during the desperation stages in the closing minutes.

VAR cleared the ‘controversial’ incident in record time as there really was nothing in it. We did manage to get a photographer in today, although he was also knocked back from the fan media angle. Mysteriously that was sorted in the background by the underhand green hand at Celtic.

Here’s the Unique Angle of the only goal in the 2026 Women’s Scottish Cup Final from Morgan Cross…

Well done Ghirls and for those that are leaving this summer, all the very best.

Totally agree with your point on the commentary. It was typical BBC anti-Celticbullshit. Both commentators didn’t even try to hide their bias.
