Celtic’s dramatic title-sealing victory over Hearts attracted a record-breaking television audience, with more than one million viewers tuning in as the SPFL season reached a thrilling conclusion.

The showdown at Celtic Park delivered late twists and high tension, with the Hoops battling back after falling behind to deny Hearts the point — or win — that would have secured the title.
Scenes of controversy unfolded after the final whistle when Celtic supporters spilled onto the pitch following Callum Osmand’s injury-time winner.
Hearts players were later escorted from the stadium still wearing their full match kits amid reported safety concerns.
The dramatic encounter proved to be the most-watched SPFL fixture of the campaign, with Sky Sports confirming peak viewing figures close to 1.4 million.

A Sky Sports spokesperson said via The National: “Celtic v Hearts on Saturday averaged an in-home only audience of 1.09 million and peaked at 1.37 million viewers, making it the highest SPFL audience of the season.”
The SPFL also addressed the post-match scenes in an official statement.
An SPFL spokesperson said: “Yesterday’s match showed off the very best of the Scottish game and the drama and excitement that it is rightly famed for.
“The eyes of the world were on Glasgow and the climax of the William Hill Premiership, with millions of viewers watching the match on Sky Sports and across the globe.
“However, we utterly condemn the scenes which saw a number of Celtic supporters encroach onto the field of play. We await the report.”
