Rumoured Celtic target Oskar Wojcik has revealed there is no specific plan for his development steps and that his future is still very much in the balance and to be decided…
The highly-coveted Polish star is currently enjoying his football at Cracovia in his homeland, but has started to receive plenty of interest in his services from near and far.
The 22-year-old centre-back was heavily linked with Celtic Park during the January transfer window this year and reports even suggested that a £3.5 million bid had been offered for his talents from the biggest football club in Scotland.
Like so many others stories from windows past, that never came to pass and now speculation is rife that Celtic may decide to go back in for the aspiring defender.
That is purely speculative for the time being, as the football club still have no manager nor proper footballing structures in place heading into what will be a crucial summer rebuild. Promises of changes and lessons learned have been the main message from Club Chairman Brian Wilson, yet supporters have yet to see any meaningful proof of these assertions.
Wojcik meanwhile, has revealed to the media that he does not know what the future holds for him, but that it his ambition to one day play in the English Premier League. Speaking to meczyki.pl, he said: “I don’t know anything at this point. No hearing came from me either from the club or from my agents. It’s only in the media. Obviously, it’s not the right time yet, but I’ll definitely want to get there (EPL) someday. We don’t know what will happen before then. There’s no specific plan.”
To Wojcik, like so many others in the modern game, the hallowed ground of the Premier League is the major ambition and is the way of the world. The money and status of being in the supposed “best league in the world” is the target for most young and developing players.

However, Celtic are able to play a vital role in player development when it comes to aspiring talent, just as we have did so often in the past. Our ability to provide a ruthless environment where winning is essential and development is allowed to take place within both a domestic and European context, enables profiles like Wojcik to flourish.
