Celtic are continuing to monitor Motherwell midfielder Elijah Just as talk of a possible summer transfer begins to gather pace.

The New Zealand international has emerged as a player of interest following an eye-catching first season at Fir Park, with Celtic understood to have tracked his progress for a number of months.
Reports via Scottish Sun claim a scout from the Scottish champions attended Motherwell’s recent clash with Falkirk as the club considers whether to step up their interest with a formal approach.

Celtic ‘scout’ keeps an eye on Just
Just’s performances this season have also seen him earn a nomination for the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award. The 26-year-old is entering the final year of his contract, although Motherwell do retain the option to extend his stay, with further interest expected ahead of the transfer window.
Speaking last week on whether he is aware of transfer speculation surrounding him, he responded: “Personally, I’m just focused on the Motherwell games and the World Cup. I’ve still got lots of football to play before I have to even think about my future.
“I’ve told my agent that I don’t want to hear about anything that goes on, or anything about anyone that’s got in contact with him.”
Motherwell remain firmly in the driving seat to guarantee fourth place which would mean Europa Conference League qualifiers in July.
“We’re still competing for a European spot,” he said. “So that’s also something exciting that’s just around the corner.”
It feels inevitable Just will be leaving Fir Park after just one season, given that he has a World Cup to focus on, any exit from the Steelmen may well come later in the window.

In a season, which has had so much disruption within our club.
Still the biggest concern for myself anyway, was to how we struggled so much, in order to get a functioning midfield in operation on way to many occasions imo?
Even now, with 7 midfield options available within our squad, who is our best 3 to start matches, along with making an impact from the bench?
Didn’t think the individual quality factor is as big of a problem as it has shown, moreso a functioning issue imo?
Yet with the current state of things at present, we can only say with a degree of certainty that, McCowan is the only one of our current 7, who will be with ourselves next season imo?
Now McCowan will always be regarded as a bit part player, moreso in the SPFL than European competitions, and with filling a homegrown spot, is still worthy of a squad position for ourselves imo?
The question surrounding Just, is whether he can provide more than McCowan within our rebuilding of our squad, especially with European football in mind?
At present, we don’t even know who our next manager is going to be. So what his intentions of trying to set up a team, and the profile of player he will be looking for, within his squad building process yet?
So plenty of speculation surrounding names of players at present, but having a few especially within our midfield areas, who are comfortable enough within SPFL football, wouldn’t be a bad thing for ourselves within the squad building process imo
