Martin O’Neill’s side completed the domestic Double after defeating Dunfermline 3-1 at Hampden, with Daizen Maeda, Arne Engels, and Kelechi Iheanacho all getting on the scoresheet.

The victory capped a dramatic end to the campaign for Celtic, who had already secured the Premiership title on the final day following a 3-1 win over Hearts.

The Hoops’ charge towards the title included a controversial late victory against Motherwell at Fir Park, where a stoppage-time penalty proved decisive.

Referee John Beaton awarded the spot-kick after a VAR review determined that Sam Nicholson had handled the ball inside the area. Iheanacho converted from 12 yards to secure the points for Celtic.

The decision sparked widespread debate, with McInnes furious in his post-match assessment and branding the award “disgusting” during his media interviews.

Those remarks were referenced after Saturday’s cup final when Celtic SLO John-Paul Taylor shared footage of the squad lifting the trophy on social media.

“It’s actually disgusting,” Taylor wrote alongside two trophy emojis and a four-leaf clover emoji on X.

The post quickly gained traction online, attracting thousands of interactions from supporters celebrating the club’s latest silverware.

It was confirmed this week that the Scottish FA’s Key Match Incident panel concluded that the penalty should not have been awarded.

The fallout from the incident escalated further after referee Beaton’s personal details were circulated online, prompting police surveillance.

The penalty at Motherwell was only controversial because it was awarded to Celtic !!!!
Hell would freeze over before the SMSM revved up their anti Hoops propaganda had it been awarded to any other team.
Not anywhere near to this kind of outcry when similar, and worse, decisions are regularly awarded against us.
The more pain they feel the better I like it.
Fuck the lot of them !!!
