In a new update for the support, it seems that largest shareholder Dermot Desmond is in no real rush to get a new manager in place, along with a major restructuring of the football department, with several key positions needing filled after a botched operational campaign.
The club somehow managed to get it over the line this year in what was a very disappointing season for performance in almost every aspect.

Many will point to the domestic Double win as some kind of vindication of the year going well, but for anyone not drinking the Kool Aid, it is clear to see there are massive structural issues at the moment curtailing progress and effectiveness in recruitment and coaching too.
Put simply Martin O’Neill saved Celtic’s bacon not once but twice during the season and ended up winning the most unlikely double in the club’s history.

This latest update from McGowan serves as a reminder of how those that run the club work. Celtic are currently in the same position as they were post-Covid, except the only difference being that we won the Scottish Premiership thsi time out.
There are glaring questions that have been asked of this squad all season long and despite their ability to get it over the line domestically, it will be as you were in August in the UEFA Champions League play-offs if we don’t see some changes in the way we approach things.
The support crave those glorious European nights and as our captain Callum McGregor has previously said, it just has a different feel whenever we play in the top club competition.

As it stands, the names being thrown around for the managers job don’t exactly set the mind racing either. Robbie Keane would clearly be a divisive figure and something that we could do without, following a lifetime full of that this past season.

McGowan also mentions Craig Bellamy in his report too, which, despite being more palatable than Keane, does make you wonder why Celtic would even entertain a novice heading into a significant and potentially tricky rebuild, the likes of which we haven’t seen in years.
All the support can do is sit and wait for our custodians to get real and start to act swiftly and coherently, and maybe try live up to the standards that have been set by those immortals that have gone before.
