Celtic are reportedly keeping tabs on highly-rated Uruguayan prospect Agustin Dos Santos as the Hoops assess potential additions ahead of next season.

The Scottish champions are already considering whether to make Marcelo Saracchi’s loan spell a permanent move, but another player from Uruguay has now emerged on their radar.

According to reports from journalist Rodri Vazquez of Sport 890, Celtic scouts have been monitoring Nacional midfielder Dos Santos, with discussions over the club’s interest said to have taken place.

It’s understood representatives of the teenager have already informed Nacional about attention from Celtic, although no indication has yet been given over the transfer fee or the Uruguayan club’s willingness to negotiate.

Dos Santos, 18, has progressed through Nacional’s academy system and is regarded as one of the club’s promising young midfield talents.

The central midfielder broke into the senior setup last season and has since gone on to feature 18 times for the first team, registering one assist so far.

While he is still waiting for his first senior goal, the youngster has already represented Uruguay at under-18 level, earning eight caps and scoring twice for his country.
