Celtic loanee Johnny Kenny has been shortlisted for the EFL League One Player of the Month prize following an impressive run of performances with Bolton Wanderers…
The young striker enjoyed a standout April, finding the net in each of his five league appearances as Bolton secured a place in the promotion play-offs. Wanderers also remained unbeaten throughout that stretch, while Kenny increased his goal tally to six since arriving on loan in January.
Kenny impressing at Bolton
One of his most important contributions came away to Bradford City, where his goal helped confirm Bolton’s place in the race for promotion to the Championship.
Kenny faces strong competition for the monthly accolade, with Lincoln City skipper Tendayi Darikwa, Stevenage goalkeeper Filip Marschall, and Luton Town playmaker Kasey Palmer also among the nominees.
Bolton are set to face Bradford in the opening leg of their play-off clash on Saturday evening.
Celtic monitoring Scott McKenna
Meanwhile, Celtic are reportedly continuing to monitor Scotland international Scott McKenna ahead of the summer transfer window.
The former Aberdeen, Nottingham Forest and Las Palmas defender recently celebrated the first league title of his career after helping Dinamo Zagreb move 15 points clear at the top of the Croatian top flight.
Reports in Croatia suggest Celtic have renewed their interest in the 29-year-old, having previously attempted to sign him late in the 2018 summer window.
It is claimed Hoops scouts have attended several Dinamo matches in recent months to assess McKenna’s performances during the title-winning campaign.
The Scottish champions are believed to be considering a move for the centre-back at the end of the season, although Dinamo are keen to keep hold of a player viewed internally as a vital part of the squad.
Earlier this season, Dinamo chief scout Tomislav Sokota acknowledged transfer interest in McKenna and revealed bids worth around £10 million had been discussed.

I can understand Kenny using Bolton as a stepping stone, within his development, and seems to be working out very well for himself. Whether that’s going to be to our own benefit, in playing terms or financial terms is yet to be determined, with both options still available?
Can’t understand this so called interest in Mckenna whatsoever?
First off, we potentially already have CCV and Murray, as right CB, and Scales and Trusty as left CB, and potentially a youngster from within, to fill the 5th choice CB position?
So where does Mckenna actually fit into the equation, unless one of our other 4 options is planning to leave us?
Even if a new manager is looking at going for the 3CB option, then who is actually calling the shots at present?
Even to consider the 3CB option, have we got the pace required and good enough footballing skills with passing abilities, to beat a press?
Personally think we haven’t got enough of that profile of CB to consider the option, and don’t see where Mckenna is going to improve matters in that regards myself?
So can only think, that he might be under consideration, as to potentially filling a place within our homegrown quota requirements imo?
Even at that, to what cost within the squad building process?
Would be very surprised if anything ever comes of the Mckenna rumours, as doesn’t make any sense imo?
