Celtic might get pipped to the signature of Kasper Hogh, but it won’t be by Hearts. Michael Nicholson should be doing everything possible to get this deal done…
Celtic continue to be linked with Bodo/Glimt forward Kasper Hogh, as a new report, as featured on Celtic Shorts yesterday, claim that we are leading the chase for the Danish international.
Celtic Shorts reported:
Italian transfer journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, speaking to Danish outlet SpilXperten, reports that it’s CELTIC who are leading the race to sign the striker who bagged 17 goals in the Norwegian League and an impressive six in the Champions League plus a goal in his international debut for Denmark.
Kasper Hogh topping Celtic summer list of targets…
“It is true that both Celtic and Hearts want Kasper Høgh,” Gianluca Di Marzio said. “Celtic is leading the race for him, but Hearts really want him as well.”
“At this moment, Celtic are leading the race to get him, so it is very likely that he can join Celtic.
“But Hearts are still insisting on getting him, so they will try to convince him until the very end and then the decision is up to Kasper Høgh.”
Naturally, several other sides are interested in the striker who scored several crucial goals for the Norwegian side in the champions League, and if we have any ambition at all, then we need to push the boat out and lure him to Celtic Park.
We badly need a striker, and I fully believe that Hogh is the man to end our woes in that department. Physically strong, and he knows the way to goal, the Danish international is tailor made for the Scottish top flight, and already proven in Europe, so he’s very much the real deal.
Apparently we have competition from another Scottish club, and it’s not our Glasgow rivals, but our current title rivals Hearts, with Tony Bloom having identified Kasper Hogh as a top summer target as he eyes Champions League football.
I mean no disrespect to the Gorgie side, but does anyone actually believe that they are in with a chance of snaring a player such as Hogh?
Firstly he’s rated in the £8-£10 million bracket, and his current salary is estimated to be around £10,000 a week, and he’ll be looking to at least double his salary when he decides to move on.
With the highest paid players at Hearts said to be on a maximum of £7,500 a week, it’s hard to imagine that they will be in a position to offer such a figure, as well as bearing in mind that their most expensive transfer outlay is £1.7 million.
It’s not a viable option, and that’s not just an opinion, that’s a harsh reality of football. Celtic do have the financial resources to bring Hogh to Glasgow, but may well be pipped by another club in the race for his signature. That’s a distinct possibility due to our incompetence on the recruitment front over the last number of transfer windows.
But in my view that club will certainly not be the Jambos, be rest assured of that.

Now the dust has settled.. The reaction from many high profile people is way over the top. John Beaton was advised to go to the monitor and saw that the ball hit the arm in an unnatural position Bottom line is people would hate to see Celtic win the title again and that is all.
