Various reports from Germany have claimed that Celtic have now doubled their initial valuation of Maik Nawrocki to €4m…
The Polish defender has been enjoying his football away from the spotlight in Glasgow and seems to have flourished at Bundesliga 2 club Hannover 96 this year.
Nawrocki was a summer 2023 Celtic signing
The man who Celtic signed from Legia Warsaw during that ill-fated summer transfer window of 2023 – where Brendan Rodgers was left with a raft of players who were nowhere near the requisite quality – was shipped out on a loan deal at the beginning of last season and has really begun to find his feet again, getting consistent minutes and a proper run in the first team.

Nawrocki, in comparison to others who had joined during that period upon Rodgers’ return, didn’t do all that badly, but did have injury concerns to contend with along the way.
Quality always there, fitness was the issue
That seemed to have curtailed any potential progress and from there-on in, the big Polish centre-back just never really got going or managed to stamp any authority on the central defensive area in the Celtic side.

The 25-year-old has had a thoroughly decent campaign in Germany’s second division by all accounts, playing 17 times and having a goal involvement on 6 occasions too – scoring three and assisting the same.
Nawrocki has had a standout season at Hannover 96
That form has alerted other German clubs to his availability and with Hannover 96 failing to gain promotion back to the big time in the Bundesliga, Fussball Transfers has claimed Celtic have now decided to double his fee with others lurking.

The initial €2 million or so option-to-buy clause appears to be out of reach for the Lower-Saxony outfit and they would require another loan deal in this instance.
Celtic now looking to cash in on the defender
That will no doubt be of little interest to a Celtic Board who know they will have to undertake a major rebuilding of the playing squad and football department this close season, which won’t be cheap.
Now with interest at an all-time high for a player deemed surplus to requirements, opportunity knocks in a ruthless marketplace.
Celtic now want €4m for Maik Nawrocki amid interest from Bundesliga clubs.
